Why are the rocks so important?

The sauna stones are your thermal battery. They absorb and store the intense heat from the heater's electric elements, radiating a soft, even warmth throughout the room. More importantly, they are the surface you'll ladle water onto to create that wonderful, humid steam. The quality and quantity of your stones directly impact the quality of your sauna session.

Does a larger stone capacity make a difference?

With more hot surface area to work with, the water vaporizes more gently, creating a much more luxurious and enveloping heat that many sauna connoisseurs prefer.

Can I use any rocks in my heater?

No, this is a critical safety rule. You must only use special, high-density sauna stones that are designed to withstand extreme, repeated temperature changes. Using regular landscaping rocks is incredibly dangerous, as they can contain pockets of water that can cause them to crack or even explode when heated.
