What is the Harvia KIP electric sauna heater with separate control?
The Harvia KIP with separate control (KIP45W, KIP60W and KIP80W) is a wall-mounted stainless-steel electric sauna heater that has no controls of its own: it runs from a Harvia Xenio CX170 control, sold separately. It comes in 4.5, 6 and 8 kW for sauna rooms of 100 to 425 cu ft, on 240 V single-phase or 208 V three-phase power, and holds 44 lb (20 kg) of 2–4" stones behind a protective stone guard.
Which control does the Harvia KIP need?
The Harvia KIP with separate control needs a Harvia Xenio CX170 control: the CX170-U1-15-XW for the 240 V single-phase heaters and the CX170-U3-15-XW for the 208 V three-phase heaters. Harvia's KIP manual says the control is purchased separately and brings the power unit and temperature sensor with it. Both Xenio models have Wi-Fi for Harvia's MyHarvia app; the Xenio can be set from 104 to 194°F (40–90°C), runs the heater for up to 1 hour per start and can delay a start by up to 12 hours. An older plain CX170-U1 is limited to 7 kW on one supply circuit, too little for the 8 kW KIP; the CX170-U1-15-XW Topture sells handles up to 10.5 kW that way. Topture offers the KIP only with the Xenio CX170; Harvia's Fenix controls are not offered for it.
