Red light on the Finnmark FD-1 to FD-5: a 650 nm panel or a red setting

Finnmark Designs fits the FD-4 and FD-5 Trinity with its Spectrum Red Light™ LED panel, which Finnmark specifies at 650 nm, combined with color settings.

On the FD-1, FD-2 and FD-3, the red light is one setting of a multi-color LED ceiling light: Finnmark's manuals say red light can be used during a session by selecting the "red" button, and Finnmark publishes no wavelength for it.

Choose the FD-4 or FD-5 Trinity if you want red light from a panel with a wavelength Finnmark publishes; any of the FD-1, FD-2 and FD-3 will do if a red setting on the ceiling light is enough.

Red light saunas compared: light, heat and seats

Narrow a red light sauna here by seats, then by heat:

• For one person: the FD-1 is the place to start, carrying Finnmark's one-person rating.
• For two people: start with the FD-2 or the FD-4 Trinity, which Finnmark rates for two.
• For a group of three or four: start with the FD-3 or the FD-5 Trinity XL, rated by Finnmark for three to four people.
• For an infrared-only sauna: choose the FD-1, FD-2 or FD-3, which Finnmark calls full spectrum; full spectrum infrared saunas covers what that label means.
• For infrared heaters and a stone heater in one cabin: choose the FD-4 or FD-5 Trinity, each fitted with a Harvia heater; hybrid saunas covers that pairing of infrared and stones.

Before buying a red light sauna: power, placement and assembly

• Power supply: Finnmark's manuals require a dedicated circuit with no other devices on it, at 120 V for the FD-1, the FD-2 and the FD-4's infrared side and at 240 V for the FD-3. The two Trinity models also carry a Harvia heater, which Finnmark lists at 120 V and 15.9 A on the FD-4 and at 240 V and 18.8 A on the FD-5, where Finnmark marks it "Electrician Required". Finnmark gives no circuit figure for either heater. For the FD-5's infrared side, confirm the supply with Topture while the electrical work is still being planned. Your licensed electrician sizes the breaker and wire from the sauna's manual, the Harvia heater's manual for a Trinity model, and your local code.
• Placement: an FD sauna needs a solid surface in a dry area and at least 3 inches of clearance above and on all sides, according to Finnmark's manuals, which intend it for indoor use as a freestanding unit, not built into any structure. Outdoor placement is the exception: Finnmark requires its outdoor cover and an awning or overhang, with the sauna on sturdy, dry, level ground, and says leaving off the cover voids the warranty.
• Assembly: each FD sauna comes on a wooden pallet from Bathing Brands, Finnmark's distributor, as prefabricated panels that are screwed together on site. Finnmark's manuals call for a minimum of two physically able people and state "Professional installation required".

Red light sauna prices and delivery

Of the five red light saunas here, the FD-1 is the least expensive, at $4,695, and the FD-5 Trinity XL the most expensive, at $8,995; no heater-package option is offered on any of their product pages. All five ship with freight included within the contiguous United States, delivered to the curb by appointment with a liftgate on most shipments, so raise site-access questions before you order.
