The Cliff is the heater for people who want their sauna heater to look like an object, not an appliance. It's an angular freestanding pillar — sharp-edged, architectural, a deliberate contrast to the round Hive and the teardrop Drop. But it's not design for design's sake. The Cliff Series carries 165 to 202 lbs of stone, enough thermal mass to deliver strong, sustained löyly in a 4–6 person room, and like every HUUM electric heater the elements sit buried in the stone rather than blowing past exposed coils. So the steam is the soft, humid kind, and the surface still reaches 230°F — the highest max temp in the home category.
If you've been working through the HUUM electric heater range and you want a freestanding statement piece with serious löyly but you don't need the Hive Mini's full 330 lbs of stone, the Cliff is the one to look at. It hits a sweet spot: sculptural design, floor-standing presence, and enough mass for a real Finnish steam session without the cost or footprint of a heavier heater.
The Cliff Series is the floor-standing pillar, carrying 165–202 lbs of stone and covering roughly 176 to 600 cubic feet across three wattages. The 6kW suits compact 2–3 person rooms, the 9kW is the workhorse for 3–4 person builds, and the 10.5kW handles the largest rooms in the line — 5–6 person cabins pushing toward 600 cu ft. This is the model most Cliff buyers want: the sculptural look with the stone mass to back it.
The Cliff Mini brings the Cliff's angular design language to a small-room, wall-mounted 3.5kW heater carrying 133 lbs of stone, rated for roughly 123 to 212 cubic feet. It's the choice for a tight 1–2 person sauna where you still want the Cliff aesthetic — a wall-mount where the full Series would be too much heater and too much floor presence.
Sizing the Cliff follows the same rule as any sauna heater: match kW to cubic footage, and when you're between two sizes, go up. Glass doors, tile, and cold exterior walls all raise a room's effective heat demand, and an undersized heater never quite reaches temperature. The Cliff Series' 176–600 cu ft span covers most home and outdoor builds.
The Cliff Mini's 3.5kW runs on a smaller circuit suited to small rooms. The Cliff Series runs on 240V single-phase: the 6kW pulls 25 amps on a 30A breaker (10 AWG), the 9kW pulls 37.5 amps on a 40A breaker (8 AWG), and the 10.5kW pulls 43.75 amps on a 50A breaker (8 AWG). Each heater needs its own dedicated circuit and a licensed electrician for the hookup. Our sauna electrical rough-in guide covers what to confirm before the electrician arrives. Electrical requirements vary by local code — always have a licensed electrician verify your specific install.
The Cliff will not run without a HUUM UKU controller, sold separately. Because the Cliff tops out at 10.5kW, you never need the UKU Extension Box that the full Hive's larger models require — any UKU pairs directly.
Browse the full lineup in our UKU controller collection. UKU Local is a wired wall panel with no WiFi. UKU WiFi adds the HUUM mobile app for phone preheating and scheduling. UKU Glass and UKU Mirror are the WiFi version in premium glass or mirror finishes — a fitting match for a design-led heater like the Cliff. If app control matters to you, the WiFi-controllable heaters collection shows the rest of our app-enabled options. Any UKU pairs with any Cliff without an Extension Box.
The Cliff Series' 165–202 lbs of stone is the engine behind its löyly. Throw water on a fully loaded Cliff and the room fills with humid steam without the temperature crashing, because the stones hold enough reserve heat to recover quickly between pours. It's less mass than the Hive Mini's 330 lbs, but it's plenty for the 4–6 person rooms the Cliff is built for — you're not buying stone you don't need. Use 2"–4" rounded olivine stones and fill the basket fully; source the right stone from our sauna rocks collection. A half-filled Cliff won't produce the steam the design is built for.
The Cliff sits among HUUM's floor and wall heaters as the sculptural-but-practical middle option. The HUUM Hive Mini is the cylindrical floor heater with more stone mass (330 lbs) for similar room sizes — step up to it if you want maximum thermal reserve. The HUUM Drop is the wall-mounted teardrop at 121 lbs, for saunas where floor space is tight. The HUUM Steel is the budget entry — same 230°F steam in a plain rectangular shell, wall or floor. And the full HUUM Hive is the 595 lbs giant for large and commercial rooms.
Choose the Cliff when you want a freestanding heater that doubles as a design element and you're heating a 4–6 person room. Step up to the Hive Mini if you want more stone mass in a round shape, or down to the Drop if you'd rather mount on the wall, or to the Steel if budget is the priority. The Cliff's pitch is that you get the sculptural floor-standing look and strong löyly without paying for stone mass your room doesn't need.
The Cliff reaches a 230°F surface, so a guard rail keeping benches and bodies clear of the pillar isn't optional where seating sits close. Stones are mandatory before the heater can be powered on. Sourcing à la carte, plan on heater + UKU controller + stones as the minimum. If you'd rather not piece it together, our HUUM electric heater packages bundle the heater, your choice of UKU controller, and stones at a package price.
HUUM's warranty runs 3 years on the heater body and UKU controller for residential use, valid only through authorized dealers like Topture. Grey-market Cliff heaters from Amazon and eBay resellers frequently aren't covered by HUUM even when they look identical — confirm the dealer before you order. We're an authorized HUUM dealer, ship every Cliff free, and our team is available if you hit a question during install.
