HUUM HIVE Mini Sauna Heaters

HUUM HIVE Mini models by room size

HUUM sizes each HIVE Mini model to the sauna room's volume, and its US manual prints a smallest and largest room for each on a 240 V supply, so the room picks the model. The table sets the HIVE Mini heater sold on its own beside its three packages here.

Once you have the room's volume, work down this list to a HIVE Mini model or a rule-out:

• Uninsulated brick, tile or glass walls: add 3.3 cubic feet to the room's volume for each square foot of such wall before you choose, as HUUM's US manuals for the HIVE heaters and their Mini versions direct.
• Under 177 cubic feet: rule out the HIVE Mini, which HUUM sizes from 177 cubic feet up.
• About 177 to 283 cubic feet: start with the HIVE Mini 6, the one HIVE Mini HUUM sizes below 283 cubic feet (177–318).
• About 283 to 460 cubic feet: choose the HIVE Mini 9, sized for 283–460 cubic feet; up to 318 cubic feet the HIVE Mini 6 is also in range, and from 354 the HIVE Mini 11.
• About 460 to 566 cubic feet: choose the HIVE Mini 11, which HUUM sizes for 354–566 cubic feet.
• Over 566 cubic feet: rule out the HIVE Mini, whose range HUUM tops out at 566 cubic feet, and see the HUUM HIVE page.

HUUM HIVE Mini supply, amps and control

HUUM's US manual and its SGS certificate list the HIVE Mini for a 240 V supply, wired as 240V 2~, and the manual lists its draw at 25 amps for the HIVE Mini 6 up to 43.75 amps for the HIVE Mini 11. HUUM's UKU control manual calls for a dedicated circuit and says only a licensed electrician may do the electrical work it describes. Your licensed electrician sizes the breaker and wire from the manual that ships with the heater and your local code.

The HIVE Mini has no built-in control: HUUM's US manuals say its electric heaters each need a separate control system, and HUUM lists its UKU, as UKU Local or UKU Wi-Fi, as what the heater additionally needs. HUUM's manuals also allow another certified sauna-heater control whose rated output covers the heater. HUUM's UKU can be set up to 230°F (110°C), or 194°F (90°C) with its bench sensor fitted. • Heat from your phone: choose a UKU Wi-Fi, which HUUM lets you run from the HUUM mobile app as well as its panel, on a 2.4 GHz network only. HUUM's manual enables app starts only after someone confirms at the panel that nothing is on or near the heater and the door is closed, and HUUM warns that switching that confirmation off in the settings lets the sauna start remotely without the check.
• No app wanted: a UKU Local is enough; it is run from its wall panel only, with no app.

HUUM HIVE Mini heater alone or as a package

The HIVE Mini heater sold on its own ships without sauna stones: HUUM's manual lists none in the delivery set and says the heater requires them, 331 lb (150 kg) for each HIVE Mini model. Each HIVE Mini package here combines the heater with air tunnel, a HUUM UKU control (UKU Local Black, or UKU Wi-Fi with a Black, Glass or Mirror panel) and HUUM stones, sold as one item.

• No control or stones yet: choose the package built on the HIVE Mini model your room calls for.
• A control you already own: choose the heater alone if you have a UKU or another certified control whose rated output covers the heater; its product page offers HUUM stones and the UKU controls as add-ons, and sauna stones ordered with a heater ship free within the contiguous United States.

HUUM's HIVE manual stands the HIVE Mini on four adjustable legs, levelled so that all four carry the weight, and HUUM also allows it to be partially set into the sauna bench or floor with its embedding flange. The three HIVE Mini add-ons here are also offered on the heater and package pages:

• Keeping bathers off the hot heater: add the HUUM Rail HM, which Bathing Brands, HUUM's US distributor, lists for the HIVE Mini; HUUM's safety railings are wooden rails with stainless-steel fasteners, attached to the heater, that help prevent accidental contact with it.
• Heater set partly into the bench: add the HUUM Flange HM, the HIVE Mini size of HUUM's stainless-steel embedding flange, which covers the rough cut wooden edges around the heater.
• Heater close to a wall: add the HUUM Reflect HM, a stainless-steel panel HUUM sizes for the HIVE Mini; hooked onto the heater's wires, it reflects the heat back and lets the safety distances from the walls be halved.
