HUUM DROP Sauna Heaters

HUUM DROP sauna heaters are electric heaters that hang on the sauna wall, or sit partly in the bench or floor with HUUM's embedding flange. This collection holds the DROP sold alone in four outputs, four packages that add a HUUM control and stones, and three DROP add-ons: the flange, a safety rail and a drip tray.

HUUM DROP heater sizes by room volume

HUUM sizes each DROP model to the sauna room's volume: its current US manual prints a smallest and largest room for the 4.5, 6, 7.5 and 9 kW models on a 240 V supply. From 106 to under 177 cubic feet: start with the DROP's 4.5 kW model, which HUUM sizes for 106–248 cubic feet; HUUM's ranges for the other three DROP models begin at 177 cubic feet or more.
From 177 to 318 cubic feet: start with the DROP's 6 kW model, sized for 177–318 cubic feet; up to 248 cubic feet its 4.5 kW model also fits HUUM's table.
Above 318 and up to 389 cubic feet: choose the DROP's 7.5 kW model, sized for 248–389 cubic feet, or its 9 kW model, sized for 283–460.
Above 389 and up to 460 cubic feet: choose the DROP's 9 kW model, the one DROP model whose range goes past 389 cubic feet.
Below 106 or above 460 cubic feet: rule out the DROP, since HUUM sizes none of its models for such a room.

HUUM DROP supply and control

HUUM's US manual and its SGS certificate list the DROP for a 240 V supply, wired as 240 V 2~, and HUUM lists each DROP model's amps on that supply. HUUM's UKU control manual calls for a dedicated circuit, recommends new wiring and supply conductors sized as the heater's manual states, and says only a licensed electrician may do the electrical work it describes. Your licensed electrician sizes the breaker and wire from the manual that ships with the heater and your local code.

The HUUM DROP has no built-in control: HUUM's US manuals say it needs a separate control system. HUUM lists its UKU control, as the UKU Local or the UKU Wi-Fi, as what the DROP additionally needs, and the UKU runs heaters up to 11 kW on its own. HUUM's UKU can be set up to 230°F (110°C), or 194°F (90°C) with its bench sensor fitted.

Heating the sauna from your phone: choose a UKU Wi-Fi. HUUM's UKU manual lets the HUUM app switch heating on and off and choose the temperature and heating time while you are away, within the heating-time limit set on the control panel; starting the sauna from the app needs someone to confirm at the panel first that nothing is on or near the heater and the door is closed. The UKU's main module joins 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks only.
Running the DROP from the wall panel alone: pick the UKU Local, run from its wall panel only, with no app.
Black UKU panel mounted outdoors: add a weatherproof box. HUUM says its black plastic UKU panel must be installed outside the sauna room and, outdoors, recommends a box to protect it from the weather; for the main module, which also goes outside the sauna room, HUUM says weatherproof housing can be added. The DROP packages' product pages offer SaunaLife's Sauna Gear 300 enclosure (panel) and Model 302 enclosure (main module) as add-ons.

HUUM DROP alone or as a package

The HUUM DROP ships without sauna stones: HUUM's manual lists none in the delivery set and says the heater requires them, and HUUM's US manual puts the DROP's stone load at approximately 121.3 lb (55 kg).

The DROP, a UKU and stones in one purchase: choose one of the four DROP packages, each of which combines the DROP model in its title, a HUUM UKU control (UKU Local Black, or UKU Wi-Fi with a Black, Glass or Mirror panel) and HUUM stones.
A control you already own, or one you want to pick yourself: choose the DROP sold alone. HUUM's manuals also allow another certified sauna-heater control whose rated output covers the heater, and the DROP's product page offers HUUM stones and the UKU controls as add-ons; sauna stones ordered with a heater ship free within the contiguous United States.

HUUM DROP mounting and add-ons

HUUM's DROP manual attaches the DROP to the sauna wall on its mounting frame, and HUUM also allows it to be set partly into the sauna bench or floor with its embedding flange.

Setting the DROP into the bench: add the HUUM Flange D - Embedding Flange for DROP Series Sauna Heaters ($322). HUUM's stainless-steel flange covers the rough cut wooden edges around the heater for a smooth finish, and HUUM's DROP manual, which covers all four DROP sizes, lists it as the DROP's one embedding flange.
Guarding the hot heater: add the HUUM Rail D - Safety Rail for DROP Series Sauna Heaters ($291). HUUM makes this railing for the DROP, and HUUM's safety railings are wooden rails with stainless-steel fasteners, attached to the heater, that help prevent accidental contact with it.
Protecting the floor under the heater: add the HUUM Drop Drip Tray ($126). HUUM's tray goes under the DROP and keeps water from accumulating there, and HUUM says to empty it after each session.

Buying HUUM DROP heaters from Topture

HUUM's warranty applies only to new products sold by HUUM or its authorized dealers and their resellers, and HUUM's official dealer directory lists Topture, an authorized HUUM retailer, as an "E-shop". For the DROP heater, HUUM's terms give a 3-year manufacturer warranty for private use and 1 year for commercial use on products bought after 1 January 2025; Topture assists with troubleshooting and warranty coordination.

Can you use water on a HUUM DROP sauna heater?

HUUM's DROP manual has you raise the sauna's humidity by ladling water onto the HUUM DROP's hot stones, on HUUM's conditions: only clean, warm water, about 2 3/4 oz (80 ml) at a time, poured only on the stones and not on metal surfaces, and only once the stones are fully heated.
