Sauna Heater Size Calculator

Use this calculator to determine the right sauna heater size for your space. Several key factors influence the heater size you need:

  • Sauna Size: Larger saunas require more powerful heaters.
  • Construction Materials: If your sauna has cold surfaces like glass, stone, or concrete, you'll need a more powerful heater compared to a fully wooden sauna. Our calculator accounts for this.
  • Extra-Large Saunas: If your sauna is too large for a single heater, you may need two. Contact us for expert guidance on proper sizing.

Choosing the Right Sauna Heater

If you're unsure, it's always better to choose a slightly larger heater. A common mistake is selecting a heater that’s too small, but we’ve never had a customer regret choosing a more powerful option. Here’s why:

Longer Lifespan – A larger heater doesn’t have to run at full capacity constantly, reducing wear and tear.

Higher Temperatures – You’ll have the flexibility to reach your desired heat levels with ease.

More Consistent Heat – Larger heaters typically hold more stones, which enhances heat retention and radiation for a more enjoyable sauna experience.

OR

The first step in choosing the right sauna heater is knowing the size of your sauna. You can enter the measurements in feet or inches. If you already know the total volume, you can just enter that instead.

2. Cold Surface Area

Glass and stone are the most common types of "cold surfaces" in a sauna. These surfaces affect how much heating power you need, so it's important to include them in your calculation. Enter the total area of all cold surfaces in square feet. The most common cold surface is a glass door to your sauna.
Note: Do not include the floor in your total, as it does not affect heater size.

3. Preferred Brand

The last thing to consider is the heater brand. Different brands have their own sizing guidelines due to small differences in design and technology.
