The practical difference is the electrical supply. On the FD-4 Trinity the infrared and red-light side runs from a standard 120V 15-amp plug, while the Harvia Vega stove needs its own dedicated 20-amp circuit. The FD-5 Trinity XL runs everything from a single dedicated 240V 20-amp circuit. Both require a licensed electrician for the heater connection. What a Hybrid Sauna Actually Is

A hybrid sauna carries two independent heat systems in one cabin: infrared panels that warm your body directly, and a traditional electric heater topped with stones that heats the air and takes water for löyly.

They are genuinely separate systems with separate controls and, on the FD-4, separate electrical supplies. Check the model’s operating instructions for how Finnmark intends the modes to be used together.

That independence is the point. A hybrid gives you a 120–140°F radiant session on a weeknight and a 170–190°F stone session with steam at the weekend, without owning two saunas.

Who Should Buy a Hybrid Sauna?

A hybrid sauna makes sense in three situations, and it is an expensive way to solve a problem you may not have.

• Two people who disagree. One prefers the lower-temperature radiant heat, the other wants stones and steam. A hybrid ends the argument.
• You genuinely use both. Shorter radiant sessions on weekdays, full traditional sessions when there is time to heat the room.
• One cabin is all the space allows. If the room or budget only fits one sauna and you cannot decide, a hybrid removes the decision.

If you already know which heat you want, buy the specialist. Topture’s infrared saunas and traditional saunas both start well below hybrid pricing, and a dedicated cabin does its one job better than a compromise.

What Hybrid Saunas Cost to Install

Installation cost on a hybrid sauna is set by the traditional heater, not the infrared panels. The panels are the easy half.

On the Finnmark FD-4 Trinity the infrared panels and red light run from a standard 120V 15-amp plug, but the Harvia Vega stove still needs a dedicated 20-amp circuit installed by a licensed electrician. The FD-5 Trinity XL needs a single dedicated 240V 20-amp circuit. Either way the electrical work is a separate line in the budget from the sauna price.

Where a Hybrid Sauna Goes

Both hybrid saunas Topture carries are built for indoor installation — a basement, spare room, home gym or large bathroom. Neither is weatherised for outdoor use.

The FD-4 needs a 48″ × 48″ floor area and the FD-5 needs 75″ × 64″. Both stand 83″ tall, so a standard 8-foot ceiling clears them, though a finished basement at 84″ leaves almost no margin.

Topture’s hybrid range splits by capacity, though at present each size holds a single Finnmark model. The FD-4 Trinity is the two-person option and the FD-5 Trinity XL is the four-person.
