The Finnmark FD-4 Trinity is a 2-person indoor sauna that combines three ways to bathe in one cedar cabin: infrared heat from six Spectrum Plus™ heaters, traditional sauna heat from a Harvia Vega Compact 1.9 kW heater with stones, which gives steam when water is thrown on them, and a Spectrum Red Light™ LED panel in the ceiling. It measures 48.8" W × 48.8" D × 83.1" H outside and 44.5" W × 45.1" D × 75.2" H inside, with two benches at different heights.
The infrared side runs on 120 V from a dedicated 15 A outlet and reaches 170°F; the Harvia heater is wired separately by a licensed electrician and takes the room up to 194°F, the figure Finnmark gives for traditional mode. Finnmark makes the Trinity in two sizes: this 2-person FD-4 and the larger FD-5 Trinity XL.
Three ways to use the Finnmark FD-4 Trinity
- Infrared: six Spectrum Plus™ heaters with Incoloy-sheathed elements, three on the back wall, one under the upper bench and one on each side wall, rated at 1,750 W on 120 V. Finnmark's manual allows about 15–20 minutes to warm to a comfortable temperature and 55–60 minutes to reach the 170°F maximum, and notes that the maximum may not be reached in every setting. Finnmark warrants these heaters for life.
- Traditional: a Harvia Vega Compact 1.9 kW heater on the front interior wall, filled with sauna stones and controlled by the timer and thermostat on the heater itself. Throwing water on the hot stones adds steam, and Finnmark gives up to 194°F in traditional mode.
- Red light: a Spectrum Red Light™ LED panel in the ceiling, which Finnmark specifies at 650 nm, with other colors selected on the control panel.
Does the Finnmark FD-4 Trinity have red light therapy?
Yes. The FD-4 has a Spectrum Red Light™ LED panel built into the ceiling, which Finnmark specifies at 650 nm, and Finnmark's manual says red light therapy is used by selecting the "red" button on the control panel. The panel also switches to white, orange, blue, yellow, purple, green, cyan or magenta, or scrolls through the colors.
Controls, sound and ventilation
- Controller 2.0: an LCD touchscreen control panel that sets the infrared temperature and session time and runs the lights, fan and audio. The Harvia heater is set on the heater itself.
- Wi-Fi app: the FD-4 connects to the Smart Life app, which switches the sauna on, sets the target temperature and session time, and schedules sessions in advance.
- Bluetooth audio: a pair of 6" speakers plays from a paired device.
- Ventilation: a ceiling fan switched from the control panel, and a ceiling vent that can be opened at any time for fresh air.
Materials and construction
- Interior: clear A-grade Canadian Western Red Cedar.
- Exterior: Thermo-Aspen, which Finnmark sells as Thermal Plus™ and treats with heat and steam rather than chemicals. Finnmark says the treatment makes the wood less prone to warping, cracking and cupping.
- Walls: tongue-and-groove panels with insulated walls.
- Benches: two benches at different heights, the upper one 44.5" wide and 18.9" deep, the lower one 44.5" wide and 15.7" deep.
- Door: tempered glass, 0.31" thick.
Cedar is a natural material, and Finnmark's manual notes that variations in color and grain, knots and fine cracks are part of the wood's character, not defects.
What comes with the Finnmark FD-4 Trinity?
The Finnmark FD-4 ships as a complete kit: the six wall, floor and ceiling panels with the infrared heaters and the red light panel built in, two benches, the tempered glass door in its front panel, the touchscreen control panel, speakers and power supply, the Harvia heater in its own box with a box of sauna stones, and the hardware and manual to assemble it. What it needs on site is a dedicated 120 V, 15 A outlet for the infrared side and a separate circuit for the Harvia heater, which a licensed electrician wires.

What electrical work does the Finnmark FD-4 Trinity need?
The Finnmark FD-4 needs two circuits. The infrared heaters, lights, controls and audio plug into a dedicated 15 A, 120 V circuit with a standard NEMA 5-15 outlet, and Finnmark's manual asks that no other devices share it. The power supply sits at the top front of the cabin and the cord is about 9 feet long, so the outlet has to be within that reach; the manual rules out extension cords.
The Harvia Vega Compact heater is wired separately. Harvia's manual requires it to be permanently connected by a licensed electrician, in seal-tight conduit, with no plugs or receptacles inside the sauna room, and says its power feed must not go through a GFI. It draws 15.9 A at 120 V, or 8 A if wired for 240 V, on minimum #14 AWG copper wire rated 194°F (90°C), and Finnmark specifies a dedicated 20 A circuit for it. Finnmark's manual asks you to give the Harvia installation manual to the electrician; it is linked under Documents.
For the infrared outlet, Finnmark's manual says all wiring should be performed by a licensed electrician following local codes, the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) in the US and the Canadian Electrical Code in Canada, calls for a grounded three-wire outlet, and strongly recommends a GFCI device in any location that could get wet. That recommendation is for the sauna's outlet; the Harvia heater's own feed must not use a GFI.
Where can the Finnmark FD-4 Trinity be installed?
The FD-4 is a freestanding indoor sauna. Finnmark's manual says it must not be built into any structure and needs a solid surface in a dry area, with at least 3" of clearance above it and on every side so the power cord stays accessible. The manual suggests a basement, attic, garage, playroom, spare bedroom or new extension. Allow 23.9" in front of the sauna for the door to swing open, and a ceiling at least 86.1" high: the 83.1" cabin plus the 3" clearance.
Using the FD-4 outdoors
The FD-4 is designed for indoor use, and Finnmark allows it outdoors only on its conditions. It must be covered with the Finnmark FD4 outdoor cover; placing it outside without a cover voids the warranty. It must also stand under an awning or overhang so rain does not fall directly on the roof, on sturdy, dry, level ground rather than grass, gravel or dirt, and never on a surface that gets wet from rain or snow. Finnmark notes that the cover protects against limited weather exposure but not extreme conditions, that its snap buttons should stay clipped and its zippers closed when the sauna is not in use, and that warm-up times vary with the outdoor temperature. Outdoors, Finnmark's warranty on the cabin is 5 years instead of 10.
How is the Finnmark FD-4 Trinity assembled?
The FD-4 arrives as prefabricated panels that screw together. The floor panel goes down first on its feet, leveled in the sauna's final position, followed by the back and side panels, the bench and its heater, the front panel and the roof panel, which takes two people to lift. The power-supply cables are then connected, the Harvia heater's back plate is mounted on the wall and the heater hung on it, the door handle fitted and the power cord plugged in; the electrician then connects the Harvia heater. Finnmark lists a screwdriver and a level as tools, but mounting the Harvia back plate also takes a drill. Finnmark's manual requires at least two able people and states that professional installation is required.
Before the first session, Finnmark recommends wiping the interior with a damp cloth and running the empty sauna at maximum temperature for an hour, a few times, to burn off factory dust.
How is the Finnmark FD-4 Trinity delivered?
The Finnmark FD-4 ships free to the contiguous US by LTL freight, as a crate on a wooden pallet. Delivery is by appointment and curbside: the driver lowers the shipment to ground level and is not responsible for moving it further, so plan how two people will carry the panels from the curb to the room where the sauna will stand. The carrier will reach out to book the delivery appointment.

Why Finnmark?
