Dundalk Leisurecraft has been building wood-fired and electric saunas in Dundalk, Ontario since 2004. Every kit ships from the same workshop where it was cut, sanded, and pre-assembled by hand — there's no overseas factory in the supply chain. That single-origin sourcing is the quiet reason Dundalk shows up in so many cottage-country and northern-state backyards: the wood is local, the build tolerances are tight, and replacement parts come straight from the people who made the original.
Topture is an authorized Dundalk dealer and ships Dundalk saunas direct from the Ontario workshop to customers across the US and Canada. Buying through an authorized retailer keeps your manufacturer warranty intact — a detail that matters more than most buyers realize until they need a part. If you're still mapping the broader category, our outdoor sauna buyer's guide walks through the planning side: foundation, placement, electrical, permits.
Every Dundalk sauna in this collection is built from Eastern White Cedar. Eastern White Cedar is naturally rot-resistant, dimensionally stable through freeze-thaw cycles, and contains no toxic resins that would off-gas under heat. It's the same wood species that's been used in Canadian sauna construction for generations — and it's a meaningful upgrade over the hemlock you'll find in cheaper kits, where off-gassing and warping are common complaints.
The wood itself is solid 1.5" thick on cabin and barrel models — not the thin laminated panels used in budget imports. That thickness matters for two reasons: it holds heat better (shorter recovery between löyly), and it doesn't crack or warp the way thinner lumber does after a few seasons of hard use. Roofs are 28-gauge metal shingle on cabin models, and doors and windows use bronze-tinted tempered safety glass throughout.
For a deeper read on wood quality and how it affects long-term performance, see our complete home sauna guide — it covers what to actually look for when you compare lumber specs across brands.
Dundalk's outdoor sauna catalog breaks into three shapes — barrel, cabin, and pod — each with a clear use case.
Cabin saunas are the flagship category. The Georgian Cabin (CTC88W) is Dundalk's most popular model: a 6-person, 2-tier L-bench cabin with a 7' x 7' interior and bronze tempered glass front. It's also available in a porch variant (CTC88PW) and a changeroom variant (CTC88CW) for buyers who want a covered transition space. The Granby Cabin (CTC66W) is the smaller cabin — 2-3 person, same wood, same build, scaled for tighter yards.
Barrel saunas are Dundalk's heritage shape. The barrel design heats fast (less air volume to warm) and uses no wasted ceiling space — the curved walls put your head exactly where the heat collects. Active barrel models include the Harmony (CTC22W, 4-person), the Serenity (CTC2245W) and Serenity MP with porch, the Tranquility (CTC2345W, 5-person) and Tranquility MP, and the panoramic-window Elation (CTC2424W).
Pod saunas are Dundalk's modern-design entry. The Luna (CTC22LU) is a 2-4 person pod with an angled front wall and a large glass door — a more architectural look than barrel or cabin. The MiniPOD (CTC77MW) is the same DNA in a slightly more rustic finish.
Most buyers narrow it down on three axes: shape, capacity, and how often you'll actually use it.
If you want the most usable interior space: go cabin. Cabin saunas have flat walls and a flat floor, which means full headroom corner-to-corner and room for a real two-tier bench layout. The Georgian is the sweet spot for households where two or three people will use it together — and the largest model in the Dundalk catalog.
If you want the fastest heat-up and a traditional aesthetic: go barrel. Barrels heat in 30-45 minutes with a properly sized electric heater, faster than a comparable cabin, because there's less air volume to warm. The Harmony or Serenity is the entry point; Tranquility scales up for bigger groups. See every barrel option side-by-side in our outdoor barrel sauna collection.
If you want a modern look or a smaller footprint: go pod. The Luna and MiniPOD compete with cube saunas on style — see our outdoor sauna pod collection for adjacent shapes from other brands.
On capacity: a "6-person" sauna is most comfortable for three adults. Build for the use case you'll actually have — most Topture customers regret buying too small more often than buying too big.
Dundalk saunas are sold heater-not-included so you can match the heater to your install. Both heater types work with every model in the lineup.
Electric is the practical default. Set a temperature, walk away, come back in 30-45 minutes to a sauna at 180°F. Most Dundalk models pair with an 8kW heater (Harvia KIP, HUUM Drop, or similar) on a dedicated 240V circuit. Browse compatible options in our electric sauna heater collection.
Wood-burning is the traditional experience — a slower ritual, a softer radiant heat, and the smell of burning birch. The Harvia M3 is the standard pairing for most Dundalk saunas. A wood-fired setup needs a chimney kit (Dundalk sells a side-wall and a through-roof version) but no electrical work. See the full lineup in our wood-burning sauna heater collection.
Our product pages list verified heater pairings for each model — kW rating, controller, stones, and chimney where applicable. If you want a benchmark for what other premium brands look like at this price tier, the SaunaLife and Finnmark collections are the closest direct comparisons.
Every Dundalk sauna ships as a kit with pre-cut, pre-assembled wall sections, a parts manifest, and printed instructions. Two people with basic tools can assemble most cabin and barrel models in a weekend; pods are slightly faster.
Before assembly, you need a flat, level base. The standard options are a 4" concrete pad (most durable), 4-6" of compacted crushed gravel (best drainage, easier DIY), or a deck rated for the loaded weight. An uneven base is the single most common cause of door alignment problems on outdoor saunas — don't shortcut this step.
Electrical work for an electric heater requires a licensed electrician. Most Dundalk models running an 8kW electric heater need a dedicated 240V circuit at 40A. Always consult a licensed electrician before any electrical work — local codes and panel capacity vary, and the heater's manual specifies the exact wire gauge and breaker for your install.
Topture is an authorized Dundalk Leisurecraft dealer. That means full manufacturer warranty coverage, direct shipping from the Ontario workshop, and human support throughout the buying and install process. Dundalk warranties get voided when the sauna is bought through a non-authorized reseller — a detail worth checking with any retailer before you place an order.
