The SaunaLife CL5G is a 4-person outdoor cube sauna kit with a full-height bronze-tinted glass front, two-tier knotless Thermo-Aspen benches and a solid Thermo-Spruce shell under an asphalt shingle roof. It measures 80.7" W × 63" D × 82.7" H on the outside and 77.2" W × 55.1" D × 74.8" H inside. The kit includes the shell, benches, backrest, heater guard and Wi-Fi-controlled LED lighting, and ships flat-packed by LTL freight at 1,680 lbs. The electric heater and its controls are chosen separately.

Handcrafted in Northern Europe from thermally modified woods, the CL5G is built to stay outdoors year-round. The panoramic glass front keeps the room bright and open rather than closed-in, and the flat interior walls allow a conventional two-tier bench layout across the full width of the room. The 3-person SaunaLife CL4G is the same 80.7" width at 49.2" deep rather than 63", the 6-person SaunaLife CL7G steps up to an 85.5"-high interior, and the SaunaLife Cube Series size comparison lists all five models.

How the SaunaLife CL5G is built

The CL5G uses a different material for each job: thermally modified spruce where the sauna meets the weather, knotless thermally modified aspen where skin meets the bench, and tempered glass across the front wall.

  • Panoramic glass front: a full-height wall of 0.31" tempered, bronze-tinted glass, including the door.
  • Thermo-Spruce exterior: 1.65" solid staves on the side walls and 1.1" on the front and back walls. Thermal modification changes the wood's cell structure with heat rather than chemicals, which reduces moisture absorption and improves resistance to decay and insects outdoors.
  • Knotless Thermo-Aspen interior: the two-tier bench and the backrest use satin-smooth knotless Thermo-Aspen, selected to give a cooler-to-the-touch seating surface.
  • Asphalt shingle roof: shingles and a fascia board, the same roofing material used on houses, rather than a temporary membrane cover.
  • Wi-Fi LED lighting: a dotless white LED system controlled from a phone app or the included wireless remote.
  • Ventilation and drainage: circular vents and two floor drains, one at the front and one at the back.

Can you assemble the SaunaLife CL5G yourself?

The structure, yes; the electrical work, no. The SaunaLife CL5G arrives flat-packed with full-length Thermo-Spruce wall staves, the bench boards, a complete montage hardware kit and an illustrated step-by-step manual, and it is designed to be put together on site. It is not a no-cut kit: SaunaLife lists a circular saw among the required tools, and the manual calls for trimming the flat edge of a roof board to width if needed, and cutting the heater guard to length if your heater is smaller than the opening it was drawn for. SaunaLife's own installation manual then instructs owners to "hire qualified professionals for electrical work, including heater and lighting installation" — so the heater, its control unit and the LED lighting are wired by a licensed electrician, not by you.

Book the electrician separately. One verified CL5G owner, writing about their own build, put it plainly: between the electrical requirements, the heater, the controls and the lighting, "there's more involved than you might initially expect," and they recommend having professionals handle the setup.

Before the sauna arrives

  1. Build or confirm the foundation. SaunaLife's manual says: "Ensure the sauna sits on a stable, level foundation for proper door and window operation. Ensure the base has enough stability to support the sauna." It does not name a base type; Topture suggests a concrete pad, a compacted paver base or a reinforced deck.
  2. Check drainage at the site. The manual warns against constant water exposure to the wooden components.
  3. Choose the heater package and have the electrician review its requirements before delivery day.
  4. Plan how the crated components move from the curb to the build site — see delivery below.

Tools you supply

SaunaLife's manual lists the tools for the CL5G build: measuring tape, marker pen, circular saw, spirit level, drill, crescent wrench, utility knife, rubber mallet, ratchet strap, hammer, screwdriver — and "extra hands". Treating the wooden parts with a preservative after assembly is recommended.

The SaunaLife CL5G ships by LTL freight. The listed shipping weight is 1,680 lbs, and delivery is curbside with the shipment lowered to ground level on a pallet. A delivery appointment is required. Buyers should plan how the sauna components will move from the curb to the prepared installation area before the truck arrives.

The carrier will reach out to book the appointment once the shipment arrives at their local terminal, and someone needs to be there to inspect and sign for it. The sauna arrives protected on a wooden pallet, sometimes encased in wood.

Inspect and photograph the shipment before you start assembly. SaunaLife's warranty does not cover damage — transport damage included — that would have been detectable by visual inspection before installation, so documenting it at delivery is what keeps both the freight claim and the warranty open.

What the SaunaLife CL5G exterior is made of


The SaunaLife CL5G shell is solid Thermo-Spruce: 1.65-inch staves on the side walls and 1.1-inch staves on the front and back walls. The wood is thermally modified — heated to high temperature to permanently change its cell structure — which reduces how much moisture it absorbs and improves its resistance to decay and insects without chemical preservatives. That is what lets the cabin live outdoors through all four seasons. Treating the exterior with a wood preservative once a year keeps it that way.

The SaunaLife CL5G ships with an asphalt shingle roof and fascia board — the same roofing material used on houses — rather than the thin membrane cover that outdoor kits in this class often rely on. Paired with the 1.65-inch Thermo-Spruce walls, it is what keeps weather out of a cabin that lives outside permanently.

Inside, the CL5G carries a complete ventilation system with circular vents and two floor drains, one at the front and one at the back, so the room breathes and dries between sessions. Lighting is a dotless white LED system controlled from a phone app or the included wireless remote. Like the heater, the lighting is wired by a licensed electrician.

We absolutely love our CL5G 4 person sauna!

We absolutely love our new Topture sauna! The quality and overall look are fantastic, and now that everything is set up, it’s incredibly easy to use and has quickly become one of our favorite additions to our home.

That said, the installation and setup are definitely not something we’d recommend tackling without professional help. Between the electrical requirements, heater installation, controls, lighting, and getting everything set up correctly, there’s more involved than you might initially expect. Having experienced professionals handle the setup made a huge difference and gave us peace of mind that everything was installed safely and correctly.

Once installed, though, using the sauna couldn’t be easier. It heats up beautifully, the controls are straightforward, and the entire experience feels like having a high-end spa right at home. We couldn’t be happier with our Topture sauna and would absolutely recommend it, just plan on professional installation so you can enjoy it the way it was intended!

Great sauna for 2–3 people, heats up beautifully

We've been using our SaunaLife CL5G for a few months now and couldn't be happier with it. We went with the 9kW HUUM DROP heater, which gets the sauna to around 180°F in about 45–60 minutes, depending on the outside temperature. I was initially a little concerned about heat loss through the large glass front, but that hasn't been an issue at all.
The CL5G is advertised for four people, but I'd say it's most comfortable with two or three adults. My wife and I have plenty of space, and there's enough room to stretch out on the bench when using it alone.
We assembled it ourselves over a weekend, taking roughly 11 hours with two people. The instructions were actually quite clear, and we had no trouble following them.
The glass front looks fantastic, especially in the evening with the interior lights on. We also really like being able to turn the heater on from our phones. Overall, very happy with the purchase! I'd definitely buy it again.

We had a barrel sauna for three years and I honestly thought that was as good as it gets for a home setup. I was wrong. The CL5G is a completely different experience. The flat interior walls make it feel twice the size. You can actually sit with your back against a proper backrest, and my husband can lay fully flat on the bench. In the barrel, he always had to curl up. The heat distribution is noticeably better too. No weird hot spot at the top with cold feet thanks to the two level benches. Very happy to have made the switch.

An 8 to 9 kW electric heater suits the SaunaLife CL5G, and Topture offers it with the HUUM DROP 9 kW or the Harvia KIP 8 kW. The interior is about 184 cubic feet, but the full-height glass front is uninsulated, and both heater makers add volume for glass: HUUM adds 3.3 cubic feet per square foot, Harvia 1.2 cubic meters per square meter. The SaunaLife CL5G needs a stable, level foundation. SaunaLife's manual asks for one so that the door and windows operate properly, with a base stable enough to support the sauna. SaunaLife does not name a base type; Topture suggests a concrete pad, a compacted paver base or a reinforced deck, prepared before the kit is assembled. The manual also asks that the site drain properly, because the wooden components should not sit in standing water. The CL5G has two floor drains, one at the front and one at the back.
How is the SaunaLife CL5G delivered and what does shipping cost?
The SaunaLife CL5G ships by LTL freight truck for a flat $950 freight charge to the contiguous United States, at a listed shipping weight of 1,680 pounds. Delivery is curbside: the driver lowers the crate to ground level at the end of your driveway and is not responsible for moving it further. What warranty does the SaunaLife CL5G come with?
SaunaLife's Limited Warranty covers its saunas against defects in workmanship under normal conditions of use and service for five years from delivery in residential applications, and it runs to the original retail purchaser who bought from an authorized reseller. Topture is an authorized SaunaLife retailer. The warranty is limited to making good any factory-assembled component SaunaLife judges defective in workmanship. It does not cover normal material wear, user damage, natural weathering of the lumber, the natural characteristics of wood such as grain, knots and tone variation, shrinkage and expansion from temperature and humidity, or labour for removal and reinstallation. How do you maintain the SaunaLife CL5G?
The SaunaLife CL5G needs a supervised two-hour first heating before normal use, with the room well ventilated, and new heater stones washed before they are placed. Follow the first-heating instructions supplied with both the sauna and the heater, and never run the heater above its maker's maximum temperature, which SaunaLife's manual also rules out; contact Topture if the two sets of instructions differ. After the first heating, apply a wood preservative to the exterior at least once a year, more often in harsh exposure, to improve resistance to dirt and moisture and extend the life of the wood. After each session, wipe the benches with a clean, damp cloth, never with running water, using a cleaner made for sauna wood, then let the room dry and ventilate. A few times a year, inspect the door and window hinges and locks, tightening and lubricating as needed; hinge adjustment uses 3 mm and 5 mm hex keys. Check the heater stones periodically, since stones crack with heat cycling and need replacing or topping up.
What are common problems with the SaunaLife CL5G, and how do you avoid them?
SaunaLife's CL5G manual names the ones that are normal: the wood may crack or warp slightly as temperature and humidity change, boards exposed to steam can darken, and thermally modified wood keeps a smell that fades but never fully disappears. The avoidable ones come from care and setup: running the heater above its maker's maximum temperature, pressure-washing the wood, skipping the yearly exterior wood treatment, and a foundation that isn't level, which SaunaLife says the door and windows need to work properly. During the build, keep screws at least 0.79 inch from the glass edge, and don't use the included heater guard if it doesn't fit your heater. If the glass door drifts out of line, its hinges adjust with 3 mm and 5 mm hex keys.
What is the difference between the SaunaLife CL4G and the CL5G?
The CL4G and the CL5G share the same panoramic glass front, the same Thermo-Spruce construction and the same 80.7 inch width and 82.7 inch height. The difference is depth. The CL5G is 63 inches deep and seats four people at a shipping weight of 1,680 pounds; the CL4G is 49.2 inches deep, is rated for three and ships at 1,415 pounds. If you sauna with more than two people, or want room to lie flat on the bench, the extra 13.8 inches of depth on the CL5G is what buys it.
How does the SaunaLife CL5G compare with a barrel sauna?
The practical difference is the flat wall. A barrel sauna's curved walls take usable space out of the corners and force a shorter effective bench, while the CL5G's flat interior walls run the full 76 inch length of the back wall and allow a proper vertical backrest.
How does the SaunaLife CL5G compare with the Dundalk Luna?
The biggest difference is the glass. The SaunaLife CL5G has a full-height glass front: it looks more modern, fills the room with daylight and gives you a view of the garden from the bench, so it feels open even though it is the smaller of the two. The Dundalk Luna is a rounded-corner cube of Eastern White Cedar, handcrafted in Ontario, with a glass door and one 26-1/2" × 42-1/4" window, a more enclosed, traditional room. Both seat up to four. The CL5G, handcrafted in Northern Europe from thermally modified Thermo-Spruce, measures 80.7" W × 63" D × 82.7" H with about 184 cubic feet inside, and Topture pairs it with an 8 to 9 kW heater because of the glass. Orders over $200 ship free within the contiguous United States. Orders under $200 carry a small shipping fee.

Two exceptions: SaunaLife and ThermaSol products carry a freight charge at any order value, and sauna stones ordered without a heater ship at $60 per box because of their weight.

Do you provide financing?

How long will it take for my items to arrive?

If your order is in stock, most orders ship within 2–7 business days of purchase. Transit time then depends on the distance from the warehouse and, for freight, on booking a delivery appointment.

For custom, pre-order or made-to-order items, the estimated delivery time frame is listed on the product page. Delivery dates are estimates, so please don't book installation labor until your order has arrived and been inspected.

What happens after I place my order?

As soon as you place your order, you'll receive a confirmation email with your order details—be sure to keep it for your records. Once your order ships, you'll receive another email with tracking information.

For freight deliveries, the carrier will call or text you to schedule an appointment once the shipment reaches their local terminal. Someone needs to be there to inspect the shipment and sign for it. Smaller parcels arrive by UPS or FedEx without an appointment.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. Products purchased through Topture include the applicable manufacturer’s warranty, subject to the manufacturer’s terms.
