What are the Harvia Xenio CX30 and CX45?
The Harvia Xenio CX30 (CX30-U1-U3-XW) and CX45 (CX45-U1-U3-XW) are Wi-Fi sauna controls for Harvia electric heaters that have no controls of their own: the Virta, Virta Pro, Cilindro Half with separate control, Spirit and Club. Each is a kit of a control panel, a power unit and a temperature sensor, and each works on 240 V single-phase or 208 V three-phase power. They differ in the heater load they can switch. At 240 V the CX30 runs up to 7 kW on one supply circuit or 11 kW on two, and the CX45 up to 10.8 kW on one or 17 kW on two; at 208 V three-phase, the CX30 runs up to 10.5 kW and the CX45 up to 15 kW.
On both, the temperature can be set from 104 to 194°F (40–90°C). The Xenio runs the heater for up to 1 hour per start and can delay a start by up to 12 hours, and it has Wi-Fi for Harvia's MyHarvia app.
Which Harvia heaters does the Xenio CX30 or CX45 run?
The Harvia Xenio CX30 and CX45 run the Harvia heaters below, as each heater's manual lists them. "Two supply circuits" means the heater is wired to the power unit as two groups, two separate supply circuits, as the heater's manual shows.

The Virta Pro 20 kW always needs the Harvia LTY45 power extension (sold separately) beside the control's power unit. Neither Xenio runs the Virta Combi's steamer: Virta Combi heaters need the Harvia Xenio CX30C Combi control. Harvia's KIP heaters with separate control run from the Harvia Xenio CX170. Where does each part of the Xenio CX30 or CX45 go?
The power unit of the Xenio CX30 or CX45 goes on a wall outside the sauna room, in a dry place above 32°F (0°C); it must not be recessed into the wall. The control panel can go in a dressing room, washroom or living area, or inside the sauna room at least 1.5 ft (50 cm) from the heater and no higher than about 3.3 ft (1 m) above the floor. The temperature sensor goes on the sauna wall above the heater; if the heater comes with its own sensor, as the Virta does, that one is used instead. Harvia's manual says only an authorized, professional electrician may make the electrical connections. Your licensed electrician sizes the breaker and wire from the manual that ships with the heater and your local code. Harvia's installation manual, under Documents, gives the exact wiring and sensor positions.
