What is the Harvia LTY45 power extension unit?
The Harvia LTY45 (LTY45-U1-U3) is a power extension unit for Harvia's Xenio CX30 and CX45 and Fenix FX30 and FX45 sauna controls. It mounts beside the control's power unit and adds switching capacity, so one control can run a larger heater load: up to 21 kW on four supply wires or 10.5 kW on two at 240 V single-phase, or 15.6 kW at 208 V three-phase. With a CX45 at 240 V on four supply circuits, the system runs up to 38 kW. The LTY45 is always used with a Harvia control; it cannot run a heater on its own.
When do you need the Harvia LTY45?
The Harvia LTY45 is required for the Virta Pro 20 kW: Harvia's Virta Pro manual pairs that heater with a Xenio CX30 or CX45 plus the LTY45. The Virta Pro 16 kW needs it only when wired on four supply circuits; on two circuits a CX45 runs it on its own. The other Harvia heaters Topture sells run from their control without it.
Which controls does the LTY45 work with?
The Harvia LTY45 works with the Harvia Xenio CX30 and CX45 and the Harvia Fenix FX30 and FX45. It does not work with the Harvia Xenio CX170. The Combi controls, the Xenio CX30C and Fenix FX30C, are not on the LTY45's compatibility list, and no Virta Combi needs a power extension.
Where does the LTY45 go?
The Harvia LTY45 mounts on a wall outside the sauna room, near the control's power unit, in a dry place above 32°F (0°C); it must not be recessed into the wall. Harvia's LTY45 manual says only an authorized, professional electrician may make the electrical connections. Your licensed electrician sizes the breaker and wire from the manual that ships with the heater and your local code. Harvia's LTY45 manual, under Documents, shows the wiring for each control and supply.
