What a "Package" Actually Bundles

Here's what's easy to miss until the heater shows up: the heater alone won't run a sauna. You still need stones to fill the basket, a controller to set the temperature and timer, and on most modern units a WiFi module if you want to start the heater from your phone before you get home. Buy those pieces one at a time and you're guessing at compatibility, paying separate shipping, and waiting on three deliveries.

A package solves that. Every Complete Package in this collection ships the heater, a pre-measured allotment of sauna stones, the matching controller, and (on most electric models) WiFi control in a single order, sized and matched to work together out of the box. The wood-burning kits go a step further and include the chimney, sheath, and floor protection too, because a wood stove without a flue is just a metal box.

This is the parent hub for every heater bundle we carry across three brands. If you already know the brand you want, jump straight to Harvia's package lineup, the HUUM bundles, or Saunum's equalizer packages. If you're still deciding, keep reading.

Electric, Wood-Burning, and the Three Brands We Carry

This collection mixes both fuel types. The bulk of it is electric, and you can narrow to just those on the electric heater packages page. We also stock wood-burning kits like the Harvia M3 (16.5kW) and the big Harvia PRO 20 (24kW), plus the HUUM HIVE Wood and HIVE Flow series for buyers on off-grid sites or anyone who wants the fire-tending ritual. Those come with everything you need to run a chimney safely.

Harvia is a Finnish manufacturer founded in 1950, with the widest choice of sizes and fuel types Topture carries. Its KIP series starts at $1,214 for the 4.5kW built-in package, the lowest-priced entry point in this collection. The Virta, Cilindro, and Club lines step up stone mass from there. The same stone logic applies to rock-type heaters across both fuel sources.

HUUM is an Estonian design-led manufacturer. The DROP, CLIFF, STEEL, and flagship HIVE share clean steel shells, a UKU controller that can be set up to 230°F (110°C), or 194°F (90°C) with its bench sensor fitted (Harvia's Xenio: 194°F), and serious stone capacity — the HIVE 12kW holds up to 551 lbs of olivine, the most thermal mass in this collection by a wide margin. More stones means softer, longer-lasting löyly when you ladle water across them.

Saunum builds its heaters around heat stratification — hot air collecting under the ceiling while the lower bench stays cooler. Its packages use what Saunum describes as a patented climate equalizer that mixes hot ceiling air with cooler floor air. More on that below — and on the dedicated Saunum brand collection if you want the full story.

How to Size kW to Your Room

Measure the interior of your sauna in feet (length × width × height) to get cubic feet, add the allowance the heater's manufacturer publishes for glass and other uninsulated surfaces, and choose a heater whose rated room range contains the result. Harvia's manuals add 1.2 m³ per m² — about 3.94 cu ft for every square foot of glass, stone, tile or concrete — and multiply a log sauna's volume by 1.5; HUUM's manuals add 3.3 cu ft per square foot. A 7×7×7 room is 343 cubic feet: heaters rated for that include the HUUM DROP 7.5kW (248–389 cu ft), the Harvia KIP 8kW (250–425) and Virta 8kW (177–431), and the 9kW HUUM (283–460) and Harvia Virta (177–494) models. Topture's heater size calculator does the arithmetic, and the manufacturer's rated range is final.

Quick reference using packages in this collection (manufacturer-rated ranges):

  • Up to about 250 cu ft (1–2 person indoor): a 4.5kW package like the Harvia KIP 4.5kW (100–210 cu ft) or the HUUM DROP 4.5kW (106–248)
  • About 170–320 cu ft (2–3 person): 6kW — KIP 6kW (170–300), Virta 6kW (177–294), or the HUUM CLIFF 6kW (177–318)
  • About 250–430 cu ft (3–4 person): 7.5–8kW — Harvia KIP 8kW (250–425), Harvia Virta 8kW (177–431) or HUUM DROP 7.5kW (248–389)
  • About 280–495 cu ft (4–5 person outdoor): 9kW — Harvia Virta 9kW (177–494), Cilindro 9kW (141–494), or HUUM CLIFF 9kW (283–460)
  • About 350–636 cu ft (5–6 person outdoor): 10.5kW — Harvia Cilindro 10.5kW (141–636) or HUUM STEEL 10.5kW (354–566)
  • Large or commercial rooms: Harvia Club 12.5kW (500–750 cu ft) or the HUUM HIVE 12kW–18kW floor units (424–989)

Stay inside the rated range at both ends. A heater rated below the room's effective volume struggles to reach temperature and to recover after you pour water on the stones; each manual also gives a minimum room volume.

Why Buy the Package Instead of Piecing It Together

Beyond the convenience, the package guarantees a compatible set. Harvia controllers only pair with Harvia heaters; the Virta Combi steamer needs a specific controller that runs the reservoir separately from the dry heat; every HUUM heater requires the separate UKU controller, which is included in the HUUM bundles. Skip the package to save a few dollars and you can easily end up paying to return a controller that won't talk to your heater.

You also get the right stones. Every package includes olivine diabase, the split-face volcanic rock that holds heat and resists the thermal cracking that breaks down cheap landscape rocks. If you ever need to top up, our sauna rock collection has replacements in the right sizes. And if you'd rather build your own setup from a bare heater, the full sauna heater lineup and the brand-specific Harvia and HUUM heater collections are there for that.

The Electrical Reality (Read Before You Buy)

Every electric heater in this collection runs on a dedicated 240V circuit, hardwired on its own breaker — no plug, no sharing with another appliance. Phase is set per model: the Harvia Club comes in 240V single-phase and 208V three-phase versions, while the HUUM HIVE 12, 15 and 18kW are single-phase heaters (240V or 208V) connected on two circuits.

Current draw can be estimated from heater output and voltage, but breaker size, conductor size and circuit configuration must be taken from the installation manual for the specific heater. Two heaters with the same kW rating can have different electrical requirements. Every Topture heater page lists the manufacturer specifications for that model. Final installation must be verified by a licensed electrician.

We're not electricians, and neither are you (probably) — every install must be wired by a licensed electrician who confirms the breaker size, wire gauge, and panel capacity for your specific home. Get a quote before you commit to a sauna location, especially for a detached outdoor build where you may be trenching conduit across the yard. Our electrical requirements walkthrough covers what to ask before the crate lands in your driveway.

What's in the Box and What You Provide

The package covers the heater, stones, controller, and (on most electric models) WiFi. The wood-burning kits add the chimney, sheath, and floor protection. What it doesn't include is the sauna room itself — these are heaters, not buildings. You'll provide the enclosed sauna, the dedicated circuit installed by your electrician, and proper clearances and ventilation per the heater's spec sheet.

Electric heater packages and wood-stove kits ship differently, so check the delivery method and estimate on each product page; freight shipments are fully insured. If you're not sure which bundle fits your room, call us — matching a heater to a space is exactly the kind of thing we'd rather get right on the phone than have you guess at. That's the point of buying from a curated retailer.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's included in a sauna heater package?

Every Complete Package in this collection ships the heater, a pre-measured allotment of olivine sauna stones, and the matching controller in one order. Most electric models also include WiFi control, and the wood-burning kits add the chimney, sheath, and floor protection. Everything is sized and matched to work together out of the box.

Why buy a package instead of just the heater?

A bare heater won't run a sauna on its own — you still need stones, a controller, and often a WiFi module. A package guarantees a compatible set, since controllers only pair with their own brand of heater, and saves you separate shipping and the risk of returning a controller that won't talk to your heater.

How do I size a sauna heater to my room?

Measure the interior length × width × height in feet, add the manufacturer's allowance for glass and other uninsulated surfaces, and choose a heater whose rated room range contains the result. Glass, stone, tile and other uninsulated surfaces are added as volume, not as a percentage: Harvia's manuals add 1.2 m³ per m² (about 3.94 cu ft per sq ft) and HUUM's manuals 3.3 cu ft per sq ft. Topture's Heater Size Calculator does the arithmetic, and the manufacturer's rated range for the specific heater is final. For example, a 7×7×7 room (343 cu ft) is inside the ratings of the HUUM DROP 7.5kW (248–389 cu ft), Harvia KIP 8kW (250–425) and Harvia Virta 8kW (177–431).

What's the difference between Harvia, HUUM, and Saunum packages?

Harvia offers the widest choice of sizes and fuel types and the lowest-priced entry point (the KIP 4.5kW built-in package). HUUM is the design-driven brand with the largest stone capacity (up to 551 lbs on the HIVE) and a UKU controller that can be set up to 230°F (110°C), or 194°F (90°C) with its bench sensor fitted; Harvia's Xenio and Saunum's AirIQ controls go up to 194°F (90°C). Saunum builds what it describes as a patented climate equalizer into the heater to even out the temperature between your feet and head.

Do these packages include electric and wood-burning heaters?

Both. Most of the collection is electric. We also stock wood-burning kits like the Harvia M3 and PRO 20 and the HUUM HIVE Wood and HIVE Flow series, which include the chimney, sheath, and floor protection needed to run a flue safely.

What electrical does a sauna heater package require?

Every electric heater here runs on a dedicated 240V circuit, hardwired on its own breaker, and phase is set per model — the Harvia Club comes in single-phase and three-phase versions, while the HUUM HIVE is single-phase. Breaker size, wire gauge and circuit configuration come from the installation manual for the specific heater — two heaters with the same kW rating can have different requirements. Each Topture heater page lists the manufacturer specifications, and a licensed electrician should verify the installation.
