Description

The SunRay Galaxie (model 400LX) is a 4-person indoor traditional sauna built from cedar, with a slate-colored cultured stone back wall, upper and lower benches, a tempered glass front and a 6 kW Harvia electric heater with lava stones included. SunRay also lists a Bluetooth sound system, color-changing LED ceiling lighting and an illuminated backrest. It measures 71" W × 55" D × 79" H outside and 67" W × 51" D × 75" H inside. It is a wet/dry sauna: water ladled onto the heater stones raises the humidity, and SunRay supplies a wooden bucket and ladle for that. SunRay lists the Galaxie at 781 lbs, and it ships by LTL freight as a kit for assembly indoors.

The Galaxie is the 4-person model in SunRay's LX line of indoor saunas, which pair cedar with a cultured stone wall. The 3-person SunRay Westlake has the Galaxie's 71" width at 42" deep and 75" high, also with a 6 kW heater. The 2-person SunRay Rockledge is 59" × 42" with a 4.5 kW heater. Does the SunRay Galaxie include a heater?

Assembly & Installation

Can you assemble the SunRay Galaxie yourself?

The cabin, yes; the 240 V connection, no. SunRay says its saunas are pre-assembled at the factory and broken down into panels for shipping, that two people are needed for the panel lifts, and it names a screwdriver as the tool. SunRay has not yet published an assembly manual for the Galaxie, so there is no model-specific build sequence to review yet; contact us before delivery if you want to go through the assembly instructions SunRay supplies. The electrical connection is work for a licensed electrician.

Before the sauna arrives

  1. Choose the room. The Galaxie is for indoor use only; see "Where can the SunRay Galaxie be installed?" below.
  2. Have a licensed electrician run a dedicated 240 V, 30 A circuit to that spot and confirm how the sauna will be connected.
  3. Line up a second person for the panel lifts, and plan how the boxed panels will get from the curb to the room. See Shipping below.

What electrical service does the SunRay Galaxie need?

A dedicated 240 V circuit rated for 30 A, the same kind of circuit an electric clothes dryer uses; SunRay lists it as 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz. The heater draws 6,000 W, and nothing else can share the circuit. If your electrical panel has no room for another 240 V breaker, your electrician may need to upgrade it before delivery.

SunRay does not say whether the Galaxie ships with a plug or is meant to be hard-wired, so the connection is for a licensed electrician to make and confirm. Have the circuit in place before delivery day, and contact us before you order if you want us to confirm the requirements with you.

Where can the SunRay Galaxie be installed?

Indoors only. SunRay sells the Galaxie as an indoor sauna, and SunRay's warranty certificate states that indoor saunas are for indoor use only and should not be placed outdoors. SunRay publishes no floor or ceiling-height requirements for the Galaxie.

The room needs space for the 71" × 55" cabin and its 79" height, and the dedicated 240 V circuit close by. SunRay publishes no wall or ceiling clearances, so if the space is tight, contact us with the room's dimensions before you order.

Looking after it

SunRay's warranty certificate says to clean the interior only with a water-soluble cleaning solution suitable for unfinished wood, and treats surface cracks and minor blemishes in the wood as normal rather than defects.

Shipping

How is the SunRay Galaxie delivered?

The SunRay Galaxie ships by LTL freight, with its panels boxed and strapped to a wooden pallet, and SunRay lists its shipping weight at 781 lbs. Delivery is curbside with a lift gate, which lowers the shipment to the driveway; moving the boxes from there to the room where the sauna will stand is up to you, so plan the route before the truck arrives. SunRay says its boxes fit through any doorway 24" or wider.

Inspect the shipment before you sign. SunRay's warranty excludes freight damage caused by the carrier, so note any visible damage on the delivery receipt, photograph it, and contact us before you start assembly. SunRay's delivery policy asks for internal damage found after unpacking to be reported within 3 business days of delivery.

Documents

SunRay has not yet published a manual for the Galaxie, and none of the manuals on SunRay's support page names the 400LX; we send the assembly instructions SunRay supplies, and you can contact us to review them before delivery. SunRay's warranty certificate sets out the 10-year structural and 1-year parts and electronics cover and the conditions attached to it, including indoor use only for indoor saunas.

This warranty covers all SunRay branded saunas purchased directly from SunRay Saunas or any of its authorized affiliates. This warranty is non-transferable.

Structural Warranty — 10 Years

SunRay warrants the sauna structure against manufacturer defects in materials and workmanship for 10 years from the date of purchase.

  • Wooden sauna panels, flooring, ceiling, and glass
  • Replacement parts necessary for repair
  • If a structural defect cannot be remedied by a replacement part, SunRay may send a full replacement sauna at its sole discretion

Note: Surface cracks in the wood and minor blemishes are normal characteristics of natural wood and are not considered defects.

Parts & Electronics Warranty — 1 Year

All sauna parts, including the heater and electrical components, are guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for 1 year from the date of purchase.

Electrical Requirements

Indoor traditional saunas require a dedicated 240V circuit in order to accommodate the high heat output of the heater. Please reference the product specification sheet to determine the specific requirements for your sauna.

Ventilation Requirements

Indoor traditional saunas are equipped with an air vent in the ceiling. This air vent is designed to help circulate heat throughout the sauna during the heat-up phase and to allow moisture to leave the sauna if you are adding humidity and using it as a steam sauna. The sauna cabin air vent also allows you to lower the sauna temperature without opening the door if the temperature inside the sauna becomes too hot.

Maximum Temperature

SunRay indoor traditional saunas have a maximum operating temperature of 170 degrees Fahrenheit. The normal operating range is 160-170 degrees Fahrenheit.

Traditional Sauna Shipping

All traditional saunas are shipped via truck freight with curbside and lift-gate delivery service unless otherwise specified. SunRay traditional saunas and steam saunas are shipped on a wooden pallet with removable bracing to protect the sauna boxes. Please contact us if you have special requirements for delivery. The trucking company will call you to schedule a delivery appointment.

Sauna Warranty

SunRay home saunas carry a 10-year structural warranty and 1-year parts warranty. All SunRay sauna parts, including electronic parts and the electric heater, are guaranteed for 1 year against defects.

Electrical Connection

Indoor traditional saunas for the home come with a power cord attached to the heater. The power cord does not have a plug. It is designed to be hard-wired into a junction box or you can put a plug on the end of the power cord. Please note that the power requirements differ by sauna model. Consult your traditional sauna user manual for the specific power requirements.

Assembly and Installation

An indoor traditional sauna is easily assembled by two adults. The typical assembly time is 1 hour. No special tools are required for the sauna to be assembled.

Cleaning Your Home Sauna

Your home sauna should be cleaned a minimum of every 3-4 months or more frequently depending on usage. To clean the interior of your home sauna, use a mixture of baking soda and water (3 teaspoons baking soda to 1 gallon of warm water). Using a clean towel, wipe down the interior of the sauna, focusing on where sweat accumulates. Let the area dry with the sauna door open. Use a standard ammonia-based glass cleaner to clean the sauna doors and windows.

Traditional Sauna Origin

SunRay traditional sauna cabins are constructed from Hemlock or Cedar wood imported from Canada. SunRay's manufacturing facility is in China and its distribution facility is in the United States. Warranty claims are handled by SunRay Saunas, based in Richmond, VA, and Topture helps you coordinate them.

Placing an Indoor Sauna Outdoors

SunRay indoor traditional saunas are not rated for outdoor use. They have an open top that is not protected from the elements. If you place the indoor sauna outdoors, it must be covered and protected from the elements. Indoor saunas that are placed outdoors will not be covered under SunRay's sauna warranty.

Sauna Heating Time

The average heating time for traditional home saunas ranges between 30-45 minutes depending on the room temperature, size of the sauna, and the heater type.

Ceiling Clearance

You need at least 3-4 inches between the top of the home sauna and the ceiling. This allows the electrical components on the top of the sauna to receive the appropriate amount of airflow.

Sauna Stones

SunRay indoor traditional saunas come with heater stones that sit on top of the heater elements. The heater stones are used to help radiate heat throughout the sauna and can be used to create humidity inside the sauna. DO NOT pour excess water on the heater stones as it will cause damage to the heater. To create humidity in the sauna, simply drizzle a small amount of water over the stones once they are hot.

Sauna Heater Placement

All indoor traditional saunas are equipped with either a wall mounting bracket or cradle for the heater to sit in. DO NOT place the sauna heater directly on the floor as it could become a fire hazard. The sauna must be elevated off the floor to create airflow through the heating elements.

Sauna Lighting

All indoor traditional saunas come with ambient dome lighting. Saunas with dome lighting can be connected to the heater so that the light turns off when the heater turns off. Alternatively, you can wire the lighting separately on its own switch. Consult your sauna heating wiring guide for instructions on how to wire your sauna light into the heater.

Orders ship from manufacturer and distributor warehouses in the U.S. and Canada, and some products ship directly from the manufacturer in Europe. Each product page shows its estimated delivery time.

How much is shipping?

Orders over $200 ship free within the continental United States. Orders under $200 carry a small shipping fee.

Two exceptions: SaunaLife and ThermaSol products carry a freight charge at any order value, and sauna stones ordered without a heater ship at $60 per box because of their weight.

Every charge is shown at checkout before you pay.

Do you provide financing?

Absolutely! To view your financing offer, simply select Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at Step 3 of checkout.

You'll need to enter a debit card to receive your offer, but don’t worry—you can still back out before completing the purchase.

How long will it take for my items to arrive?

If your order is in stock, most orders ship within 2–7 business days of purchase. Transit time then depends on the distance from the warehouse and, for freight, on booking a delivery appointment.

For custom, pre-order or made-to-order items, the estimated delivery time frame is listed on the product page. Delivery dates are estimates, so please don't book installation labor until your order has arrived and been inspected.

What happens after I place my order?

As soon as you place your order, you'll receive a confirmation email with your order details—be sure to keep it for your records. Once your order ships, you'll receive another email with tracking information.

For freight deliveries, the carrier will call or text you to schedule an appointment once the shipment reaches their local terminal. Someone needs to be there to inspect the shipment and sign for it. Smaller parcels arrive by UPS or FedEx without an appointment.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. Products purchased through Topture include the applicable manufacturer’s warranty, subject to the manufacturer’s terms. You’ll find the warranty details for each product under the "Warranty" tab on its product page, and we help with troubleshooting and warranty coordination if an issue comes up.

Do you have a showroom?

We don’t have a showroom — we sell online. Our team is available by phone, email and chat to help you compare models, sizes and heaters, and we can send dimensions, installation manuals and electrical requirements before you buy.

Where do you deliver to?

We deliver throughout the 48 contiguous states, with curbside freight delivery for large items. Free shipping and standard rates apply there only. Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, other U.S. islands and Canada are quoted separately, depending on the brand and model. We can't ship freight or oversized items to P.O. boxes.

Do you ship internationally?

For many products, yes, including to Canada, by custom quote. Email contact@topture.com with the product and your address before you order; availability and cost depend on the brand and model. Any duties, taxes and customs fees are your responsibility.
