Description

What is the Harvia Virta 10.5 kW electric sauna heater (HL110E)?

The Harvia Virta 10.5 kW (HL110E, Harvia item HL11U1UL / HL11U3UL) is a floor-standing electric sauna heater with a black-painted steel casing for sauna rooms of 177–635 cu ft. It runs on 240 V single-phase or, as the HL11U3UL, 208 V three-phase power, holds up to 154 lb (70 kg) of stones, and has no controls of its own: it needs a Harvia Xenio or Fenix control, sold separately. Harvia separates the heating elements from the stones, and the whole element module pulls out for service.

Which control does the Harvia Virta 10.5 kW need?

The Harvia Virta 10.5 kW needs a separate Harvia control: the Harvia Xenio CX45 (CX45-U1-U3-XW, for both the 240 V and the 208 V three-phase model) or the Harvia Fenix (FX45-U1-U3-XC), both sold separately; Harvia's Virta manual allows the smaller CX30 on two 240 V supply circuits or at 208 V three-phase, never on one 240 V circuit. The Xenio has Wi-Fi for Harvia's MyHarvia app; it can be set from 104 to 194°F (40–90°C), runs the heater for up to 1 hour per start and can delay a start by up to 12 hours. The Fenix can be set over the same range and has Wi-Fi monitoring in Harvia's MyHarvia app.

Specifications

Does the Harvia Virta 10.5 kW fit my sauna?

The Harvia Virta 10.5 kW heats sauna rooms of 177–635 cu ft (5–18 m³) with 28–102 sq ft of floor, according to Harvia's Virta manual 26092023/Y05-0767. Harvia's sizing rule adds 1.2 m³ for every square meter of uninsulated brick, glass block, glass, concrete or tile wall, about 3.9 cu ft per sq ft, and a glass door counts: Harvia's example is a 10 m³ room with a glass door, which needs the output of a 12 m³ room. The Virta manual multiplies the volume of a log sauna by 1.5.

Installation

How is the Harvia Virta 10.5 kW installed?

The Harvia Virta 10.5 kW stands on the sauna floor on adjustable legs, which level it. Harvia's manual asks for a heat-resistant floor covering where the heater stands, because hot pieces of stone can damage floor coverings. Harvia allows one electric heater per sauna room unless several heaters share one control unit. The heater is hardwired: Harvia's manual allows no plug or receptacle in the sauna room, and only an authorized, licensed electrician may connect it. The control's power unit goes on a wall outside the sauna room, in a dry place above 32°F (0°C), and the WX248 temperature sensor that comes with the heater mounts above it. Your licensed electrician sizes the breaker and wire from the manual that ships with the heater and your local code. Harvia's installation manual, under Documents, gives the exact sensor, wiring and vent positions.

Harvia Virta 10.5 kW safety distances

Keep at least these distances between the Harvia Virta 10.5 kW and walls, benches and anything that can burn.

Harvia Virta 10.5 kW minimum distances (Harvia Virta manual 26092023/Y05-0767)
Heater to side walls, back wall and benches 2" (50 mm)
Top of the heater to the ceiling 42" (1,060 mm)
Heater fence (required, not in the box) Harvia's manual calls a softwood heater fence necessary for safety: at least 2" (50 mm) from the heater on every side, with its top at least 1" below the top of the heater and never above the rock line
Sauna room height At least 75" (1,900 mm); ceiling no higher than 7 ft 6 in (2,300 mm)

Does the sauna room need ventilation?

Yes. Harvia's Virta manual calls for adjustable vents that change the air five times an hour: a supply vent low down beside the heater and an exhaust vent on the opposite wall. The manual gives their positions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What comes with the Harvia Virta 10.5 kW heater, and what else does it need to run?
The Harvia Virta 10.5 kW ships as the heater, its WX248 temperature sensor, a fastening kit, CAUTION and WARNING signs for the sauna and Harvia's installation manual. It does not run on its own: it needs a Harvia control, the Xenio CX45-U1-U3-XW or the Fenix FX45-U1-U3-XC, sold separately. It also needs up to 154 lb (70 kg) of sauna stones (four 44 lb boxes), a circuit installed by a licensed electrician and the heater fence Harvia's manual requires. Topture also sells the Virta 10.5 kW package with the Xenio control and the stones included.
Which control does the Harvia Virta 10.5 kW need?
The Harvia Virta 10.5 kW needs a separate Harvia control: Topture pairs it with the Xenio CX45-U1-U3-XW or the Fenix FX45-U1-U3-XC, and Harvia's Virta manual allows the smaller CX30 on two 240 V supply circuits or at 208 V three-phase, never on one 240 V circuit. The Xenio has Wi-Fi for Harvia's MyHarvia app, can be set from 104 to 194°F (40–90°C), runs the heater for up to 1 hour per start and can delay a start by up to 12 hours. The Fenix can be set over the same range and has Wi-Fi monitoring in the MyHarvia app. Either control's power unit goes on a wall outside the sauna room, in a dry place.
What size sauna is the Harvia Virta 10.5 kW for?
The Harvia Virta 10.5 kW is for sauna rooms of 177–635 cu ft (5–18 m³), with 28–102 sq ft of floor, according to Harvia's Virta manual. Harvia's sizing rule adds about 3.9 cu ft for every sq ft of uninsulated brick, glass, concrete or tile wall, counting a glass door (1.2 m³ per m²), and the Virta manual multiplies a log sauna's volume by 1.5. The room must be at least 75 in tall, with a ceiling no higher than 7 ft 6 in. Rooms of 354 cu ft and more can also take the Virta Pro 16 kW.
What electrical supply does the Harvia Virta 10.5 kW need?
The Harvia Virta 10.5 kW runs on 240 V single-phase or 208 V three-phase power, by the model you choose. Harvia's Virta manual lists 43.75 amps for the 240 V model on one supply circuit, or 29.2 amps per circuit on two, and 29.2 amps for the 208 V three-phase model. The heater is hardwired from the control's power unit, with no plug or receptacle in the sauna room, and Harvia's manual says only an authorized, licensed electrician may connect it. Your licensed electrician sizes the breaker and wire from the manual that ships with the heater and your local code.
How is the Harvia Virta 10.5 kW installed?
The Harvia Virta 10.5 kW stands on the sauna floor on adjustable legs, on a heat-resistant floor covering, and Harvia allows one electric heater per sauna room. Keep it at least 2 in from the walls and benches and 42 in below the ceiling, and build the softwood heater fence Harvia's manual requires, at least 2 in from the heater, with its top below the top of the heater. The control's power unit goes outside the sauna room and the WX248 sensor above the heater. A licensed electrician hardwires it, following the exact positions in Harvia's installation manual.
How long does the Harvia Virta 10.5 kW take to heat up?
The Harvia Virta 10.5 kW takes about an hour to bring a properly insulated sauna to bathing temperature when the room suits its output, according to Harvia's Virta manual, and the stones get hot at the same time as the room. Harvia gives about 149–176°F as a suitable sauna temperature. Slow heating calls for checking that all elements glow, that the heater is powerful enough for the room, and that the ventilation is right; uninsulated brick, glass or tile walls raise the output a room needs. On first use the heater and stones give off a smell, so ventilate the sauna well.
How do you load and maintain the stones in the Harvia Virta 10.5 kW?
The Harvia Virta 10.5 kW holds up to 154 lb (70 kg) of angular split-face stones made for heaters; Harvia names peridotite, olivine-dolerite, olivine and vulcanite, and four 44 lb boxes cover it. Wash the dust off, then place the stones sparsely without dropping them in or piling them high, so air flows between them. Rearrange them at least once a year, remove broken pieces and replace crumbled stones, and make sure no heating element shows. Throw only clean household water on the stones; chlorinated water and seawater are forbidden.
What problems do Harvia Virta 10.5 kW owners run into, and how are they avoided?
Most problems Harvia's Virta manual covers for the Harvia Virta 10.5 kW trace back to the control settings, the stones or the installation. A heater that will not heat needs its breakers, cable, the temperature set on the control and the overheat protectors checked. Slow heating means checking that every element glows and that the output and ventilation suit the room. Panels that darken quickly mean the safety distances are too short or elements show through the stones. A smell during the first uses is normal, and occasional bangs are stones cracking in the heat.
Who makes the Harvia Virta 10.5 kW, and what is it made of?
The Harvia Virta 10.5 kW is made by Harvia, the Finnish sauna manufacturer. It has a black-painted steel casing on adjustable legs. Harvia separates the heating elements from the stones, which Harvia says gives the elements a long life, and the whole element module pulls out for service. The heater is ETL Listed and conforms to UL 875. Harvia's Virta manual gives it as 16 by 16 by 33 in (width, depth, height), weighing 55.1 lb without stones.
What warranty does the Harvia Virta 10.5 kW have?
Harvia's manufacturer warranty covers the Harvia Virta 10.5 kW for 2 years, and Harvia adds a third year when the heater is registered on harvia.com within 30 days of purchase. The control has its own 2-year manufacturer warranty, with no registration year. Sauna stones are not covered, and Harvia's terms require the heater to be installed by a qualified electrician, with proof of the installation. Harvia US Inc. is the warrantor in North America; Topture is an authorized Harvia retailer and assists with troubleshooting and warranty coordination.
How does the Harvia Virta 10.5 kW compare with the Virta Combi 10.5 kW and the Virta Pro 16 kW?
The Harvia Virta 10.5 kW is the largest plain Virta: 177–635 cu ft, 154 lb of stones, 16 × 16 × 33 in, on 240 V or 208 V three-phase. The Virta Combi 10.5 kW covers the same rooms and adds a 2.1 kW steamer with a 1.3 gal tank, in a 19 in deep body that needs a Combi control. The Virta Pro 16 kW starts at 354 cu ft and runs to 918, in a 31 in wide body with 200 lb of stones, and needs a room at least 82.7 in tall.
Where can you buy the Harvia Virta 10.5 kW from an authorized dealer?
Topture is an authorized Harvia retailer and sells the Harvia Virta 10.5 kW, with the Xenio and Fenix controls, the stones and the HL3M safety rail separately, along with the Virta 10.5 kW package that combines the heater, the Xenio control and the stones. Topture adds Lifetime Expert Support, help with troubleshooting and warranty coordination, free shipping on orders over $200 within the continental US, financing through Shop Pay Installments at checkout, and a 30-day return window.
What does a Harvia Virta 10.5 kW cost in total, delivered?
The delivered cost of a Harvia Virta 10.5 kW from Topture is the heater price plus the parts it needs to run: a Harvia Xenio or Fenix control and four 44 lb boxes of stones. Topture has free shipping on orders over $200 within the continental US, so a Virta 10.5 kW order ships free there. Harvia electric heaters like the Virta 10.5 kW ship by parcel. The Virta 10.5 kW package combines heater, control and stones at exactly the sum of the three parts. Budget separately for a licensed electrician and the heater fence. Compare delivered totals, because some listings price the heater without its control or stones. Financing is available through Shop Pay Installments at checkout.

General Topture Questions

Where are you located, and where do you ship from?

Topture is an online retailer serving customers in the contiguous United States. The company is Topture LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company, and its registered business address is 30 N Gould St, Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Orders ship from manufacturer and distributor warehouses in the U.S. and Canada, and some products ship directly from the manufacturer in Europe. Each product page shows its estimated delivery time.

How much is shipping?

Orders over $200 ship free within the continental United States. Orders under $200 carry a small shipping fee.

Two exceptions: SaunaLife and ThermaSol products carry a freight charge at any order value, and sauna stones ordered without a heater ship at $60 per box because of their weight.

Every charge is shown at checkout before you pay.

Do you provide financing?

Absolutely! To view your financing offer, simply select Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at Step 3 of checkout.

You'll need to enter a debit card to receive your offer, but don’t worry—you can still back out before completing the purchase.

How long will it take for my items to arrive?

If your order is in stock, most orders ship within 2–7 business days of purchase. Transit time then depends on the distance from the warehouse and, for freight, on booking a delivery appointment.

For custom, pre-order or made-to-order items, the estimated delivery time frame is listed on the product page. Delivery dates are estimates, so please don't book installation labor until your order has arrived and been inspected.

What happens after I place my order?

As soon as you place your order, you'll receive a confirmation email with your order details—be sure to keep it for your records. Once your order ships, you'll receive another email with tracking information.

For freight deliveries, the carrier will call or text you to schedule an appointment once the shipment reaches their local terminal. Someone needs to be there to inspect the shipment and sign for it. Smaller parcels arrive by UPS or FedEx without an appointment.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. Products purchased through Topture include the applicable manufacturer’s warranty, subject to the manufacturer’s terms. You’ll find the warranty details for each product under the "Warranty" tab on its product page, and we help with troubleshooting and warranty coordination if an issue comes up.

Do you have a showroom?

We don’t have a showroom — we sell online. Our team is available by phone, email and chat to help you compare models, sizes and heaters, and we can send dimensions, installation manuals and electrical requirements before you buy.

Where do you deliver to?

We deliver throughout the 48 contiguous states, with curbside freight delivery for large items. Free shipping and standard rates apply there only. Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, other U.S. islands and Canada are quoted separately, depending on the brand and model. We can't ship freight or oversized items to P.O. boxes.

Do you ship internationally?
