How do the Harvia Vega Compact 1900's controls work?

The Harvia Vega Compact 1900 has a timer and a thermostat on the heater. The timer starts heating at once and switches the heater off after up to 60 minutes; there is no delayed start. The thermostat holds the temperature you set. It is hardwired on either voltage, not plugged in.

Does the Harvia Vega Compact 1900 fit my sauna?

The Harvia Vega Compact 1900 heats sauna rooms of 70.5–106 cu ft (2–3 m³), with 11.3–17 sq ft of floor. Harvia's sizing rule adds 1.2 m³ for every square meter of uninsulated brick, glass block, glass, concrete or tile wall, about 3.9 cu ft per sq ft, and a glass door counts: Harvia's example is a 10 m³ room with a glass door, which needs the output of a 12 m³ room. Multiply the volume of a solid-log sauna by 1.5. The room must be at least 75" (1,900 mm) tall.

How is the Harvia Vega Compact 1900 installed?

The Harvia Vega Compact 1900 hangs on a wall-mounting rack that is screwed into a board or other solid wood behind the wall panel, not into the panel alone, with the bottom of the heater 3.1–7.8" above the floor. A sauna room takes only one electric heater, and the floor under it should be heat-resistant. Harvia's manual says only a licensed electrician may connect the heater: it is hardwired, with no plug in the sauna room. Your licensed electrician sizes the breaker and wire from the manual that ships with the heater and your local code. Harvia's installation manual, under Documents, gives the exact rack and wiring details.

Does the sauna room need ventilation?

Yes. Harvia's manual for the Vega Compact calls for adjustable vents that change the air five times an hour: a lower vent close to the heater and an upper vent on the opposite wall. The manual gives their positions.
