What the Nordic Misty Modular System Is
The ThermaSol Nordic Misty is not a single cabin. It is a sauna cabin plus a set of matching modules — a terrace, a lounge, a changing room, a pergola and a privacy fence — that share the same construction and are built to sit alongside each other. Every module arrives fully assembled and is compatible with all the others, which means the backyard you build in year one does not have to be the backyard you are stuck with.
That is unusual. Outdoor saunas that include a changing room or a covered porch typically bake it into a fixed model: you buy the version with the extra room or you buy the version without it, and there is no path between them. Topture carries the Nordic Misty because the decision stays open — start with the sauna, add the terrace when the budget recovers, add the changing room the winter after that.
The Nordic Misty Modules and What Each Costs
Topture publishes the price of every Nordic Misty variant rather than quoting the system as a package. Each module comes in more than one size, and most come in a left- or right-hand configuration, so the figures below are ranges rather than single prices.

The cabin alone is a complete sauna and needs nothing else to function. On the cabin, wood-burning carries a modest premium over electric — $32,583 against $31,883 on the Small, $36,062 against $35,644 on the Medium. An entry arrangement of a Small cabin, Small terrace and Small pergola comes to about $45,285 in equipment; the same three in Medium comes to about $51,767. Neither figure includes freight, site preparation, foundation work or electrical, and ThermaSol quotes shipping separately for every order based on the delivery address.
Why Entrance Count Changes the Price
Topture flags this because it catches buyers out, running the opposite way to intuition: on the Nordic Misty changing room, the two-entrance version is cheaper than the one-entrance version — $13,830 against $18,198.
Topture prices each configuration separately for this reason. Entrance count describes where a module is designed to sit in the run rather than how well equipped it is, and it is a layout decision made before you order rather than an upgrade. Topture has not seen ThermaSol publish the reason for the price difference, so treat the gap as a configuration fact rather than a rule with a known mechanism.
The pattern does not hold across the range, which is the reason to price the exact configuration rather than assume. On the lounge the gap is small and inverts with size: the Medium two-entrance is $22,767 against $22,909 for the one-entrance, while on the XL the one-entrance is actually the cheaper of the two at $37,708 against $37,873. A two-door XL sits at $40,112 for arrangements needing a second access point. Sketch the row first, then confirm the configuration with Topture.
How the Modules Connect
Every Nordic Misty module Topture ships is a self-contained structure that arrives built, not a panel kit framed together on site. ThermaSol's module manual defines four connection methods, and which ones apply depends on what you are joining: attachment of the transport brackets and attachment of the roof sheets are common to all modules (the brackets differ only where a pergola is installed in front), cover boards are used where two modules with door openings meet, and attachment from the vertical beam is used only on terrace modules.
In practice the modules are lifted side by side with their back walls levelled, a filler piece is screwed between the transport brackets, and skirting boards then hide that joint front and back. On the roof, a U-profile sheet bridges the gap between modules and each eave flashing overlaps the previous one by about 4 in with a silicone seam. Because each module is independent rather than structurally tied into the next, the layout is a site-planning question rather than a construction one — you are positioning finished buildings, not extending a frame. That is the opposite of how a DIY sauna kit goes together, where the structure is framed on site and the footprint is fixed the day it is built.
Ordering Modules Together or Adding Them Later
Topture sees buyers do both, and the difference is smaller than most people assume. To be clear about what does not change: every Nordic Misty module ships separately and is lifted into place individually, whether you order one or five. They are never joined at the factory and craned in as a single assembly — a sauna, changing room and terrace arriving as one piece would be unliftable. The modules are always positioned side by side on the pad and connected there.
What differs is trim. A module built to stand alone leaves the factory with a door latch receiver, cover boards on the door edges, a drip edge under the door and skirting boards fitted. When modules are ordered together, ThermaSol simply omits those parts on the faces that will be joined. Order a module later and they are already fitted, so the installer removes them before the new module can be connected. One exception when a terrace module is attached: the cover boards on the door edges stay in place, but the drip edge under the door still has to be removed.
So adding later costs a little extra labour stripping trim — nothing more. It is a supported path, not a compromise, and it does not change how the module is delivered or placed.
Lead Times
Every ThermaSol cabin is built to order, and Topture quotes the current ThermaSol production windows before anything is scheduled. The Nordic Misty cabin runs about 12 weeks, in line with the rest of ThermaSol's outdoor range. ThermaSol does not publish a standard lead time for the annex modules, so confirm the current window for the specific module before you commit to a date.
Twelve weeks is the number to plan the cabin around. Order the groundwork so the pad is cured and level before the delivery window opens, and book lifting equipment against the confirmed date rather than the estimate. If you are adding a module later, get its lead time confirmed separately rather than assuming it matches the cabin.
Foundation Size by Module Combination
Topture flags this as the number to settle before anything else, because the foundation is the one part of a Nordic Misty arrangement that cannot be extended later without working around a building that is already standing. ThermaSol publishes minimum foundation lengths for the common module combinations. Size M covers the sauna, the lounge and the medium terrace; Size S covers the changing room and the small terrace. Depth is 7 ft 2 in in every case.

One caveat on reading the table: ThermaSol's Size M assumes the Medium sauna cabin. If you are buying the Small cabin, confirm the pad dimension with Topture rather than reading it off the M rows. And if you expect to expand, size the base for the eventual arrangement now even if you only place the cabin on it this year — adding a module is straightforward, extending a pad underneath one is not.
Preparing the Base
ThermaSol's instruction for every Nordic Misty module is unambiguous, and Topture repeats it to buyers before groundwork starts: never place the modules directly on the ground. The ground has to be stable, and it can be levelled with stone chippings or a concrete casting where it is not.
The recommended build-up is concrete slabs laid on a compacted hard surface with bitumen roofing felt over them, then a grid of durable material on top of the slabs — the grid is what makes it practical to get several modules sitting on exactly the same level, which matters more with each module you add. Modules can sit directly on slabs, but then the levelling has to be right first time. Screw piles are the alternative, selected according to soil type and frost depth, and ThermaSol's advice is to take professional guidance on which model suits your ground rather than choosing by load rating alone. If you are insulating the base, plan at least 2–4 in of ground frost insulation under the gravel.
Two details that are easy to miss and expensive to correct: raise the modules enough that the underside ventilates and dries, and keep tall grass away from the base, because it stops the wood breathing and encourages rot. The sauna cabin arrives with its own drainage already installed, but where that water goes on your site is your groundwork to plan.
The Changing Room and the Lounge
These two modules are what turn a sauna into a usable year-round setup in a cold climate, and they are the reason the Nordic Misty gets specified over a standalone cabin.
The ThermaSol Nordic Misty Changing Room is a 1-entrance insulated room with a full-length lockable glass door and a head-height window, a thermo-aspen bench and an overhead shelf spanning the rear wall, and recessed plug-and-play lighting. Because the floor, walls and ceiling are all insulated, it stays usable in winter — which is the point, since undressing outdoors in January is what stops people using a backyard sauna between November and March. Topture also carries other outdoor saunas with changing rooms if a fixed integrated layout suits you better.
The Lounge is the largest module, from $22,767 for the Medium up to $40,112 for the XL — the Medium is an insulated room with a floor-to-ceiling window, dual side-wall socket boxes and a rear-wall outlet, ceiling-mounted LED spotlights and rear-wall strip lighting. ThermaSol positions it as a relaxation space, but the electrical provision means it also works as a studio or a garden office, which is a materially different proposition from a cooling-off room.
Materials and Year-Round Use
Every Nordic Misty module Topture carries is built the same way, and it is a construction specification aimed squarely at weather. The exterior is Nordic dark thermo-spruce with an industrial water-based oil applied at the factory, which darkens the surface and holds UV resistance rather than leaving you to stain it on arrival. The interior of the cabin and the habitable modules is thermo-aspen, chosen because thermally modified aspen stays comfortable against bare skin at sauna temperature and resists moisture movement; the terrace decking is thermotreated softwood.
Thermal modification is heat treatment rather than chemical treatment: driving moisture out of the cell structure leaves timber that is dimensionally stable through freeze-thaw cycling and far less prone to rot than untreated softwood — the process is defined by the International ThermoWood Association. The changing room is insulated through floor, walls and ceiling, which is what makes it usable in winter instead of a fair-weather addition; confirm the insulation specification of the lounge with Topture if year-round use matters. Sizes, Door Handing and Heater Options
The Nordic Misty sauna cabin is built in two sizes, each with a left- or right-hand door, and Topture confirms handing at order because it decides which way the cabin opens onto your terrace and cannot be changed afterwards.
Medium cabins ship with a 9.0kW Harvia Virta heater with WiFi, safety rails and a CX45 controller, or a Harvia Legend 240 wood-burning kit. Small cabins ship with a 6.0kW Harvia Spirit heater with WiFi, safety rails and CX45, or a Legend 150 wood-burning kit. Both sizes come with the Onyx Deluxe accessory kit.
The electric route means a timer, WiFi scheduling and no tending during a session, against a dedicated circuit run out to the cabin. Wood-burning removes the electrical trench but adds a chimney, clearance to combustibles and someone to build the fire. Inside, either version seats three to five on thermo-aspen benches behind a full-length tempered tinted glass wall, with recessed LED lighting below the bench and above the backrest. Delivery, Weight and Offloading
This is the part of a Nordic Misty project that most often gets underestimated, so Topture puts the numbers first. Shipping weights from ThermaSol's current price list: a Medium cabin ships at 2,557 lbs with the electric heater package and 3,086 lbs with the Legend 240 wood-burning package. A Small cabin ships at 2,028 lbs electric and 2,072 lbs wood-burning. Assembled weights are lower — 2,337 lbs and 2,866 lbs for the Medium, 1,808 lbs and 1,852 lbs for the Small. The cabin arrives as one assembled building and its own base doubles as the shipping pallet, so it can be set straight onto a prepared foundation.
At those weights, plan on a forklift or a crane. ThermaSol's delivery notes do also mention offloading piece by piece with three or four people, but that is generic guidance printed across their range — at 2,000–3,000 lbs for a single assembled cabin, do not plan around it without written confirmation from ThermaSol for your exact model. ThermaSol notifies Topture customers roughly two weeks before the scheduled pickup specifically so there is time to arrange equipment, and once the unit is delivered and offloading begins, responsibility passes from the carrier to you or your contracted installer.
Lifting a Nordic Misty module correctly
Topture confirms the lifting arrangement before delivery day. Every Nordic Misty cabin carries a "lift from this side" marking, and straps or forks have to line up with it. With a forklift, drive in under the front of the cabin with forks about 6 ft 7 in (2 m) long — driving in from the side will damage it. With a crane, run the slings front to back rather than side to side, for the same reason. Whichever method you use, clear the parking and manoeuvring area first and confirm the equipment is rated for the loaded weight, not the empty one.
Two things stay on the truck's schedule rather than yours: the delivery vehicle needs room to park, and the route to the final position has to take a machine, not just a person. Measure the tightest point on that route before delivery day.
What arrives fitted, and what you install
The Nordic Misty is delivered assembled with one important exception: the sauna heater, the flue and the door handle are installed by the customer, not at the factory. Plan for that in your install schedule, and for the wood-burning version, that flue work is a roof penetration rather than a trim job.
Topture's other note on delivery day: the transport protection — sheeting, bubble wrap, screwed-on plywood and boards, and protective plates over the roof edges — should only come off once the cabin is standing in its final position, because those panels are what protect the glass during placement. Inspect for transit damage as soon as it is set down.
Ordering the Nordic Misty From Topture
Topture is an authorized ThermaSol dealer and lists each Nordic Misty module at its own price so you can cost an arrangement before speaking to anyone. Modules are made to order rather than held in stock, so confirm the current production and delivery window before booking groundwork or lifting equipment.
On warranty, ThermaSol gives 24 months on the Nordic Misty cabin and modules against material and manufacturing defects, while the Harvia heater inside carries its own shorter term of one year in family use and three months in communal use — with an important exception: that period drops to 6 months for products used commercially, so a rental property, studio or any paid-use installation is covered for a quarter of the residential term. The warranty also excludes indirect costs such as building or demolishing a terrace, frost damage, normal wear, and damage from condensation on the windows, and attempting your own repair voids it. Terms differ across the wider ThermaSol range, so check the specific product page rather than assuming one figure covers everything.
If the Nordic Misty Is Not the Right ThermaSol Cabin
The Nordic Misty is the only expandable system in Topture's ThermaSol range, so if you do not need modules there are ten other cabins in Topture's ThermaSol sauna collection. The indoor Lumaria, Aalto and Astra are freestanding rooms for a finished space and run a shorter 4-to-8-week lead time.
