Not all red light therapy saunas work the same way, and the differences matter more than most retailers let on.
Full-spectrum infrared with built-in red light is the most common setup. The Finnmark FD-2 and FD-3 pair long-wave carbon panels with UL-listed Spectrum Plus short-wave heaters for near, mid, and far infrared coverage. On top of that, they include medical-grade red light LEDs at 650nm mounted in the ceiling. You get two distinct therapies running at once without any extra equipment. The FD-2 seats two and the FD-3 handles up to four, both in antimicrobial Western Canadian cedar interiors with Thermo-Aspen exteriors.
Hybrid saunas with red light go a step further. The Finnmark FD-4 Trinity and FD-5 Trinity XL combine full-spectrum infrared panels, a traditional Harvia electric heater with sauna stones, and a 192-diode red light therapy panel in one cabin. You can run infrared alone, throw water on the stones for a traditional steam session, or use all three at once. These are the most versatile saunas we carry, and they're the only models in our catalog that give you hybrid sauna capability alongside dedicated red light.
Add red light to an existing sauna. Already own an infrared sauna or traditional sauna? The Hooga SaunaPRO panel is rated for sauna-level heat and humidity, so you can mount it inside your current cabin without buying a new unit. It's a practical route if you want red light capability without replacing what you've got. Browse our full red light therapy collection for standalone panels and devices.
Red light therapy uses specific wavelengths of visible red light (typically around 650-660nm) and near-infrared light (around 850nm) to deliver light energy to your skin and tissue. It's a completely different mechanism from the infrared heat that makes you sweat. The infrared heaters warm your body from within using wavelengths measured in microns. The red light LEDs work at the surface level using wavelengths measured in nanometers. They're two separate technologies that happen to share a cabin. Customers tell us they notice the biggest difference in how their skin feels and how they recover after workouts when they use both consistently.
This is where cheap saunas cut corners. Decorative chromotherapy LEDs look nice, but they don't deliver the specific wavelengths or the intensity that clinical red light panels produce. Every Finnmark Designs sauna in this collection uses medical-grade diodes at targeted wavelengths, not accent lighting dressed up as therapy. If a manufacturer doesn't list the specific nanometer output and diode count, that's a red flag.
The Finnmark FD-1 is a dedicated solo unit at 38" x 38" that fits in a closet or corner. The FD-2 gives two people room to sit comfortably. If you want the hybrid experience with steam and red light, the FD-4 Trinity seats two and the FD-5 Trinity XL fits three to four. Bigger isn't always better here. A smaller cabin heats faster and keeps the red light panels closer to your body, which matters for light delivery.
The FD-1, FD-2, and FD-3 run on a standard household outlet, which means no electrician and no extra wiring. The FD-4 and FD-5 Trinity models require a 240V dedicated circuit for the traditional heater component. Each product page lists exact electrical specs so your electrician has what they need before they arrive.
Every red light therapy sauna in this collection comes from Finnmark Designs, and that's intentional. We don't carry brands just to fill a page.
Finnmark Designs builds full-spectrum infrared saunas with a focus on material quality and low EMF output. The cabins use antimicrobial Western Canadian cedar on the inside and Thermal Plus Aspen on the outside, which resists warping and moisture damage over time. EMF levels are third-party tested and published. Touchscreen controls, Bluetooth audio, ergonomic backrests, and double-walled insulated construction come standard across the line. These aren't entry-level saunas, and the build reflects that. If you're comparing Finnmark to other luxury infrared saunas, you'll notice fewer compromises in materials and panel quality.
For standalone red light devices that work outside a sauna, Hooga makes everything from compact 200-diode panels to full-body 4500-diode setups. Their SaunaPRO panel is specifically engineered for high-heat environments.
Every Finnmark sauna ships with the full cabin structure, infrared heating panels, red light therapy panel, touchscreen controller, Bluetooth speaker system, backrest, and all assembly hardware. These arrive as kits that two people can put together in about an hour with basic tools. The snap-together panel design doesn't require drilling or specialized equipment.
You'll need to provide: a flat indoor surface with enough clearance (check product page dimensions), a dedicated electrical outlet for the FD-1 through FD-3 or a 240V circuit for the Trinity models, and enough room to open the glass door fully. For the Trinity hybrids, you'll also want a small bucket and ladle for the steam experience. Our team is available by phone or chat if you have questions during setup.
